Hard to think of a series that had a consistent run of unpredictably from start to finish.
Maybe the first ten of or seasons of NCIS, mostly quite good for what it is but there would be a real stinker every now and then. Since then the classic cast has left and it's not fair to judge it.

The X-Files was an odd one for me. I found the stand-alone episodes to be much better than the ongoing arc of the alien stuff; that became quite wearisome. At least to me, anyway.

Like most American shows, it just went on too long. They have a standard season of 22 episodes. The high quality of writing and characterisation just can't last.
The Good Place.

That's the critical consensus. The mythology stories got so convoluted they ended up crawling up their own ass. The standalone episodes were great. Lessons were not learnt with the reboot, either.
