Not sure it'll go quite like that.
It already has:

Tyson is deeply remorseful and embarrassed by his actions, and we have expressed our disappointment in his decision making.

Tyson is a valued member of the Crows family and we will continue to support him through this difficult period

Given the last few years the club needed to do better on this one. It was held back until media commitments were done for the day.
What disappoints me (other than Stengle, which more angers me) is the hoops they go through first before making any statement to the media.

As soon as they hear about it, then you say "We have been made aware of a 'police incident', but we will make a further statement in the coming days".

Then go through all your internal stuff and take it from there.

Which part of that isn't true ?? To expect him to be sacked is stupid.

I don't really get the whole "let's wrap our arms around the drink driver" bit.

As if they are a victim or something.

There should be no sympathy for such idiocy. Should be treated like any other member of society.
I’d guess he’ll lose his licence for at least 12 months for the DUI and be given a fine (the minimum is north of $1000). He’ll also be fined for driving an unregistered vehicle, again north of $1000.

He’s already been fined by the club $5000 (the maximum amount a player can be fined by clubs after the last CBA). I got the impression there could also be other club imposed penalties (suspended for a few games?).

He’s had his stupidity broadcast throughout the media.

I’m not sure what else can really be imposed.

Maybe just stop with the rhetoric about poor Tyson. It's just symptomatic of the current climate where we treat footballers as if they are uniquely fragile.

He doesn't need hugs he needs to be called out for being a self-centered fcukwit endangering life with no insurance.

Also you think 7 or 8 grand is going to mean anything to an AFL footballer?

I prefer the Finland system where fines are scaled according to income. Much fairer and much more of a deterrent to the wealthy not to act as if they are above the law.

Personally, I don’t think poor Tyson. He made a really bad decision, and he’s paying for now in a variety ways. Thankfully he didn’t have an accident and hurt anyone, or him myself.

By the same token I don’t think he should be treated like a pariah. I haven’t heard any ‘wrap our arms around him’ dialogue. Agree it’d be pretty cringeworthy under the circumstance

Brodie Smith and Rob Chapman both came out with the wrap our arms around him narrative today.

I’d give that a thumbs down 👎

Just publicly acknowledge he ****ed up and is being punished and leave it that.

It doesn’t make him a bad person. He just made a really poor decision.

A sizeable fine should do the trick.

No point ending his career over it, but a big enough fine so it hurts. If he can no longer afford the latest top of the range Prado, then too bad.

Still, you do have to laugh at the delay/timing of the announcement. Not sure how, but we managed to be incompetent even without any footy happening.

They released it in time for the highest rating news broadcasts in Adelaide.

I thought it came out at 6pm, to late for a real story. They have to treat it like a media release at that stage. Also Crows players and officials were interviewed all week on radio so it was done to avoid anyone having to respond. It was deliberate.

Its a commem media ploy so I have no problem with it but now we just look silly trying to defend it.

Why are clubs limited to fining players just $5000?

For a player on a million dollars per year that's just 0.5% of their salary
CBA

Edit: can found within the players code of conduct

DUI.
And we aren’t talking a little bit over the morning after a session and he just needed another hour or two of sleep.

Didn’t tell the club for two days.

I don’t live in Adelaide but could he also be guility of breaching COVID social restrictions like Hunter and Smith copped?

Fringe player at best and seen nothing to suggest he has the capacity to be a consistent 22 player.

10 game suspension seems a little pointless to me. Reckon there is very little chance he could hold his spot for 10 weeks in any event so no real punishment if he isn’t best 22 anyway.

Demonstrated he’s a dumb as ****, piece of sh!t individual that’s prepared to put other people at risk for his own selfish reasons.

If list sizes come down, he’s now a prime candidate to be told GTFO. I’m more than happy with that.

I cant defend what Stengle has done. No one should and I felt its wrong of Chapman to try and down play Stengle's actions. The police need to determine is civil punishment. The club needs to come down on him with a heavy hand but to kick him out of the club ....no way. If he is a required player then he stays on the books.

Is there talk of him driving uninsured as well? Last I heard they were separate charges as 3rd party insurance ran about 1 month longer than the registration period. May have changed though.

Nah, 0.125 or whatever is more than a bit of a hangover. If that was a morning after, having had sleep, then he would have been comfortably >.2, and for someone who shouldn't be drinking to excess frequently, represents being absolutely assfaced. Would still have been demonstrably drunk.
