Think it's a great card my self. Obviously disappointed about Chael, but looking forward to it. Hoping Weidman smashes Machida.

Holy shit, I forgot about Caceras vs. Faber. Don't blink.
How far into the bout does the RNC come?

2:15 in the 1st for me.

Machida!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope to yell this at some point.

Sadly I also like CW as he seems a solid bloke.

I guess we better just let them fight it out.

:D Agreed. I'm a AS and Machida fanboy so it wouldn't matter if CW was the best bloke ever I want to see him KOed.

I meant that, the team Alpha special.

Faber got that sweet standing RNC on Menjivar as well though.

I'll throw my picks out there

Machida v Weidman - Weidman by SD. Not a Machida fan for some reason but no doubt he can win this fight, his ability to keep the fight standing (his defensive rasslin is better than Silvas) really concerns me for Weidman in this fight.

Rousey v Davis - Rousey by sub. Gotta be another first round armbar doesn't it? McMann ruined her streak, will be intersting to see how she deals with being out making films for a few months.

Faber v Caceres - Faber by KO Love both these guys but Urijah doesn't lose non title fights and he usually finishes them as well, go with the KO cause Leeroy has a tricky guard

Struve v Mitrione - Mitrione by UD - If Struve could use his reach to his advantage he would be a beast, i think Mitrione takes him down alot in this

Hall v Santos - Hall by KO - I know nothing about Santos and im hoping Urijah puts on a clinic

I know nothing about the next two fights so Zachrich and Camozzi.

A stacked card for a UFC show these days. Only 2 and a half weeks out from this and yet there's still a couple of UFC events before this one. Wow, just had a look and there's 4 UFC events over the space of 9 days (28th June - 6th July). That's ridiculous.

Anyway, I'll give my thoughts on the fights with some responses to phantom13's thoughts.

Weidman/Machida: Have no idea how this'll go. Only thing I'd rule out is a Machida win by sub. Weidman's cool but I'm a bigger Machida fan so without any real analysis I'll say Machida by TKO. One thing Machida will have a big advantage in is speed. Weidman gets frustrated and charges into something.

Rousey/Davis: I'd say Davis is the best submission grappler that Rousey has fought so far. I'd say Davis gets out of the first round pretty confidently. Rousey by armbar in round 3 or by decision.

Struve/Mitrione: I think Mitrione would want to keep this standing. I can't recall Mitrione taking anyone down in his UFC career thus far, actually I can't recall him even attempting to take someone down. I'd pick Struve for sure if he wasn't coming off a long layoff. Now I'm not so sure, but I'll say Struve by sub.

Hall/Santos: Santos was probably on one of the TUF Brazil seasons. All I've seen of him are his 2 UFC appearances which were both over very quickly. One was a win and one was a loss. Hall by TKO.

Looks like Brimage/Doane is on the main card and Faber/Caceres is the last prelim. Not really sure about Brimage/Doane but Faber shouldn't have too much trouble with Caceres. Caceres has improved significantly over the last few years but it's unlikely that he's bridged the gap between himself and Faber. Maybe I'm just being a contrarian but I think Faber will win a decision; a dominant and one-sided decision but still a decision rather than a quick stoppage as others are suggesting.

Good point against Mitrione, more looking at the physical characteristics of the two fighters, if i was Mitrione i would be looking to trip, posture, punch, get up (to avoid the longest triangle in the world) repeat, Stefan has never been able to control distance or use his insane leverage in the clinch.

Mitrione has used takedowns in the UFC before.... I can't beleive you forgot his fight against Kimbo BradWCE! Having said that, I don't see him wanting to take this down at all as Struve's ground game is far superior.

My picks:

Weidman TKO. Chris is still underrated in all areas of the game it appears. I think he times Machida's blitzes to either land big shots or land takedowns and eventually puts him away. Lyoto will have his moments, but I think Weidman's got this.

Rousey by sub. I don't see Davis having much for Ronda to be honest. Judo toss, ground and pound and in to armbar some stage in the first.

Struve by sub. Stefan had a habit of fighting to his opponents level and after a long layoff I'm not confident in this pick. If Struve is fully healthy, I expect he'll eventually work the fight to the ground for the sub.

Hall by decision. Maretta was on TUF Brazil 2 and didn't look like anything special. Stand up is his specialty though, so this could be interesting. I expect Hall to have a speed advantage and play it relatively safe in taking a UD.

Faber by TKO. I think he'll be way too quick for Caceres. I see him landing a big right early which sends Bruce Leroy crashing to the mat with the follow up finishing the fight.

I think Machida wins this, not that I underrate Weidman at all but Lyoto is one of the best out there and has a more all around game than Anderson. To be honest it's a flip of a coin fight though so get on Lyoto, Weidman is a warm favourite.

For the others Rousey by armbar (woah), Uriah I guess, would like to see a devastating ko from him though, he has the talent but maybe not the attitude upstairs. Struve should win that one as well, and Faber.

It's good timing that Todd Carney got into the bubbling business, reminded me of Lyotos "urine therapy" interview from a few years back.

I did forget about that fight and thought you must have been right because I then recalled that he got on top and TKO'd Kimbo. I just fast forwarded through the fight to see how it got to the ground. Not that it really matters but I don't think Mitrione took Kimbo down. Kimbo got a couple of takedowns himself and the other times it hit the mat were from Kimbo collapsing as a result of leg kicks or exhaustion.

Awesome opening fight. Roop had no idea where he was after that overhand right. Great debut.
