Analysis Umpires

Always amazes me people know which umpire is which and who are the 'bad' umpires etc.....seems people concentrate on the wrong things during games.
Which leads to further frustration......

When crowds are/were allowed in games, does anyone else think some umpires like to ham it up as part of theatre for calls like Holding the Ball and especially deliberate out of bounds, where they suddenly go on manic sprints that would make Carl Lewis proud ?

Not a criticsm btw, I have always enjoyed the BBBBBAAAAAAALLLLLLLL followed by YYYYYEEEEAAAAAHHHH cheers when HTB is given.

It's a unique part of our game, nothing else like it in the world in any sport, pro or otherwise.

Can't have the game without umpiring, and as I have said before, it's the idiots on the rules committee and Steve Hocking who seem to instruct the Umpires a different set of criteria every week, which confuses the players, fans, coaches and umpires confused and frustrated.

If a midget like Al Clarkson can have so much away over the rules committee at the AFL following another recent tantrum/outburst, you might as well get rid of them all or replace them (Rules committee)

Got no time for anyone who blames the Umpires tonight, more so for the classical head in sand denial for how poor we were after Q/T than anything else.

Watching the Dons Lions game.

They need to do something about this new HTB interpretation. It is unfair to the Nth degree.

It is no hyperbole to state that it could be the end of my following this sport. Generations of AFL footballers taught and encouraged to play the ball, go get the ball and we'll look after you now left with the umpires pinging you for holding onto it because a bloke jumped on your back.

If this is not resolved at the end of the year, I will be writing to the AFL. There have been other rule changes that have had impact on the game, but this is truly the first which has lead me to say that this is not Australian Rules Football anymore.

Seen quite a few as well, where the player is making an attempt and I hear the ump saying, you didn’t make a genuine attempt.

A really simple trial to help umpires in general.

Actually use the tribunal powers to fine divers and flopper.

Fine players who deliberately throw the ball (Bruest)

Both are very close to cheating, the likelihood of getting away with throws and the easy free kick reward for flopping and diving has very low consequences.

Start with Duckwood, Dangerflog and the second best Gary Ablett in his family. They are all disgraceful given they have the ability to win without resorting to gaining a cheap advantage from cheating.

Take a breth and count backwards from 100. We have been here before, with the umpire expecting the player to flail around like they have been hit by a taser, to prove they are trying to get rid of the ball. just like this time last year the club was sending video of Cripps being monstered off the ball. Just another rule of the week/ month. The older I get the more I recognise that thingS just go around and around in circles. o_O
