Didn't see the game this week [again] on account of the FTA TV conspiracy against Geelong, but can anyone tell me if the umpiring was any good?

I noticed McLaren's goofy face in the background of the Kelly stretcher photos, so I'm taking a wild guess we had a tough time.

Am I right?

It was not great.
Chapman suffered a shocking holding the ball decision.

But certainly, we were beaten by the eagles and not the umps.

The loss had nothing to do with the umpiring.
That said I am sick to death of the NON umpiring. Just when are they going to make players attempt to dispose of the ball. This continual holding the ball and taking it to ground , by all sides is bad for the game. Sides are coached to hold on to it, look for a player before releasing and if there is no player hold on to it. That is not what the rule intended. When tackled one must dispose of the ball in a correct manor but players presently don’t even try now and these packs are formed which not only ugly but is let off for the umpires. They are paid to adjudicate the rules not be so passive that free kicks are a rarity. They espouse that they have 85% correct ruling rate but what about the non-rulings. After a night of non decisions they made the call on Chapman for pulling the ball back in to the bottom of the pack , in fact the umpire was on the wrong side and Chapman did nothing other than go for the ball.

Another loss with McLaren... the stats with us losing and him umpiring are quite compelling I am lead to believe.
