Couple that stick out - the Ladhams holding free leading to a shot on goal was absolute pants.

The 50 awarded to Mayes in the square leading to a shot on goal was offensive to even my eyes.

The holding against Ladhams wasn't there and I missed what the 50 was for. Maybe my expectations are so low now that these umpiring mistakes don't register as howlers.

I saw that one, wasn't there another one Mayes got? Could have been a protected are infringement.

Rarely watch games when Ports aren't playing but occasionally tune in to watch a quarter here or there if one of our pasts are playing.

Thought the umpiring last night in the Hawthorn Carlton game was borderline Benny Hill.

Pretty convinced the umpiring standards are such a joke because the AFL lack integrity and only care about ratings and audiences. They either change interpretation (round by round) to try and better the flow, or they have a prefer result they want to keep the comp close or the audiences engaged.

Umpires struggle to keep up with the changes and having 3 interpretations out there just compound the issue. Fact that most of the umpees look and act like they're still getting over being bullied in high school probably doesn't help their decision making either.

My eyes are burning, Robbie mark, reversed for a push out.
Hammer Kung fu kicked out of a marking contest, followed by a throw and ducking under a tackle...ball up.

There was one passage they showed from behind the goals with 2 throws of the ball and three throws of the head in under a minute

All the changes they make with umpiring and they've never addressed players that are playing against the fundamental basic rules from the time they were first written on paper

Seriously, if the head is apparently sacrosanct, why don’t they call out a club like the Dogs who have multiple duckers in their team?
I mean, I know the umps brought them the ultimate glory a few years back, but surely they can’t be proud of using such cheating and dangerous tactics to try to nab their next one?

The funniest thing about this was after Port scored a great goal early the commentary team decided to spend 5 minutes going back to Rockliff "ducking" and it being bad for the game.

When this happened they called the player "smart" for drawing high contact.

This isn't exclusively an opponent bashing thing either, we've got a couple in Robbie and Rocky who would be in the crosshairs as well.

Exactly. It's like Cricket with Muralitharan. He blatantly chucked, but they didn't want to retrospectively admit all those without the guts to call him were wrong (and also placate Sri Linka). If they started pinging players now, then they'd have to ping the duckers who've won medals etc. This would mean they'd have to admit they shouldn't have got them. If there's one thing the AFL would rather crawl over broken glass than do, it's admit they made a mistake.

Unfortunately unlike Cricket with just the one blatant chucker, for the AFL as one lot of duckers retire the next lot have already started. There'll always be those they would suddenly change from saying 'fair' to 'cheat!'.

Saw this On the Couch last night. Our mate Umpire #12, Andrew Stephens, was the dill who let McInerney handball to Hipwood who was between McInerney and Hurley standing the mark, and Hipwood was outside the boundary line. Hipwood steps over the line, the Big O gives him a handball and snaps a goal.

Where do get that from?

There is no more early plea discount anymore. That changed in 2018 when Hocking came in and appointed Christian as the sole MRO. 2018 changes discussed at link below but graphic below points it out very clearly.
