john comegurglePies number one when you average the free differential over the last 7 years.
BTW,what name is the number 13 maggot?
He was the cheat who paid that ridiculous 50 metre penalty at half time.
I thought it was Bartholomew Rortbottom?john comegurgle
Watched a bit of that, how enjoyable.
No stupid deliberate, players weren't worried about giving away 50m.
Game wasn't over umpired, they made mistakes and missed frees but didn't just pay a free for slight contact.
I just take away from it how over controlled the game has become.
For decades now they have been trying to fix problems with the game when there wasn't really a problem in the first place.
Today's commentators are gagged, and this is the medium needed to raise awareness of not only the bad standards we have today, but also the bias.
I believe it goes back a bit that there was a push to stop umpire abuse and criticism of decision as they were having trouble attracting umpires to the game.Did you notice how critical Peter McKenna was of the Roach / Frawley umpire's decision ? It was a genuine 50/50, both holding on, but it was paid to Roach. But that's not why I posted it. It's McKenna's criticism of the umpire.
Today's commentators are gagged, and this is the medium needed to raise awareness of not only the bad standards we have today, but also the bias.
In the last two games, there were two non decisions replayed TWICE, but the commentators changed the subject instead of doing what that SHOULD be doing (like McKenna) - Jake Lever's clear throw and Banfield being caught with the ball. Both clearly seen by umpires. Both leading to oppo goals... Those are two of many examples the club should be taking to the AFL for a "please explain".
I think it's best you don't because I'm not sure the ump with finish the convo with you without some bruises and blood spilling.has anyone ever met a modern day umpire?

Yeah how often do we hear them say, that the umpire's view must have been obscured etc, there are four of them out there surely one umpire see's what happened.
they allow throws cos it keeps the game flowing and more scores = more ads... then we see photo evidence of umpires in direct line of sight (Lever's throw) from a post match photo. This "obscured vision" - hang on - we have FOUR umpires now, and they STILL use this excuse ? They think we are that stupid.
I believe it goes back a bit that there was a push to stop umpire abuse and criticism of decision as they were having trouble attracting umpires to the game.
Trouble is they are going about it totally wrong. Instead of protecting the umps from any criticism, they should be putting as much money and resources as needed into making AFL umpires full time and fully professional.
Instead they throw money to unfinancial clubs, adding extra umpires (which hasn't improved anything that I can see) and other half arsed things like the ARC.
Provide proper pathways for aspiring umpires that is clear and they can see a financial benefit in taking on the job at the expense of another full-time career. You can't have both.
LMAOO how does this get turned into a geelol post. they still get a grouse ride. written by jon anderson or scott gullan both geelol fans no doubt
Replying to my own post, but would love to see a breakdown of...Just had a little look of my own over the data. This is an absolute s**t show and those nuffies on Twitter/X can bugger off.
From and including 2017...
Year - Position - For-Against (Total) RUNNING TOTAL
2017 - 18th - 469-528 (-59)
2018 - 18th - 421-543 (-122) Total -181
2019 - 12th - 463-490 (-27) Total -208
2020 - 17th - 316-384 (-68) Total -276
2021 - 18th - 376-461 (-85) Total -361
2022 - 18th - 433-517 (-84) Total -445
2023 - 18th - 357-416 (-59) Total -504
2024 (after 8 games) - 18th - 117-166 (-49) Total -553
In 7 seasons + 8 games, we are -553 free kicks, we have been 18th six times in those 8 seasons, 17th once, and somehow 12th once.
Other teams' finishing positions across that period:
Essendon: 11, 12, 11, 16, 16, 5, 7, 2
Western Bulldogs: 1, 5, 1, 7, 1, 1, 8, 15
Hawthorn: 15, 9, 16, 18, 10, 12, 12, 13
Adelaide: 8, 4, 3, 5, 7, 6, 14, 4
Fremantle: 16, 14, 6, 3, 12, 11, 2, 7
Sydney: 14, 13, 17, 8, 11, 14, 9, 8
Collingwood: 2, 1, 2, 1, 15, 4, 6, 11
Richmond: 18, 18, 12, 17, 18, 18, 18, 18
There are a few trends (farking hell Collingwood and the Dogs get looked after), but as you can see, most teams do fluctuate naturally.
How in blazes do we not fluctuate? If that's not an agenda, be it intended or subconscious of some sort, I dunno what to say.
It might sound outlandish, but do you reckon that umpiring fraternity has a bit of an in-joke, and that's all it is? Rather than it being an AFL agenda, or even a subconscious bias against us (I think this one is genuinely possible given the narrative), maybe the umpires just have a bit of a secret internal pact to shaft us, just enough to make it hurt, but not enough that they get investigated for cheating.
I dunno, but those numbers are alarming.
