There were 2 occasions where it should've been holding ball, Adelaide got a perplexin free kick and scored a goal. Then it also should've been a 50m penalty to Neon late in the 4th. Thats 3 goals difference, the umpires were as predictable as roulette

I'll also add a mark that was paid to Douglas(?) who was then wrapped up by Didak only for the umpires to give a 50 for the crows player for holding. What makes the this decision perplexing is the fact the ball was smothered of Cox's boot.

Then there was the one where the ball went out of bounds yet the umpires decided to let play continue, WTF?

I thought it was one of the most well umpired games since the last one.

Thouroughly deserved win to the better side today.

Your taking the piss right? Even opposition supporters were saying that Collingwood were 'r*ped'.

we shouldnt be relying on the umpires to win us the games.. the opposition team is always getting a better deal from the umpires than we will - blame nick maxwells overturned suspension for making a mockery of the afl...

its our own fault.. we allowed an inferior team to get to much of a start and then didnt bury them when we should have. pathetic performance.. this better be an abberation.. we wont be contesting finals if we continue to serve up that sort of half hearted performance against a "good" team-something which adelaide should not be considered...:thumbsd:

Yeah, but what about when Lockyer was holding the ball for a decade and it wasn't given, yet when Petrenko has it for 0.0001 seconds and get's tackled, it's holding the ball?

Good and bad decisions go both ways, to blame the umpires for your loss today is just sour grapes.

yeah, collingwood had a chance to snatch it, but crows deserved the win. looked very impressive considering they were regarded as write-offs by a lot of people.

I'm not having a cry, I'm simply pointing out 3 very incorrect decision that led directly to a 3 goal difference

The reason that decision was holding the ball is because he beat Johnson first, if you take on someone and beat them then get tackeled your gone everytime irrspective of how long you have it for

The umpires were s***, they have been s*** all through the preseason, But that's no excuse.

We were s***.

Yes we were, but a sign of a good team is when you win even when you play s***.

Personally I have a huge issue when umpires directly influence the outcome of a game through their incompetence. And lets face it, they were incompetent today.
I was listening to MMM and the number of times I heard the commentators say, "oh its a free to Adelaide!?" was infuriating.

They weren't great. They were certainly beter than Richmond though.

The teams in the local country league are better than Richmond.

Dude, even a blind man could see you got the rub of the green tonight. Just take your lucky 4 points and go back to your forum with your uuniformed views and we'll stay in ours. :thumbsu:

The thing we can rely on every game is the umpires giving us a raw time. I'm not sure where it comes from, perhaps a sub conscious reaction to our general arrogance and success as a football business, causing us never to be seen as an underdog deserving of sympathy, but it's always there. So it's our job to put the game beyond doubt so the umpires can't have a say in the result. Today, we weren't good enough to do it.

Sour grapes is right.

Carlton win the season opener by 83 points, Collingwood are expected to beat Adelaide, but lose, they need an excuse, lets blame the umpires.
Where did I once blame the umpires? All I said is that they were very confusing decisions and contradict how everyone else would view it

Umpiring was a farce from the time Collingwood were 3 goals up half way through the third quarter. However Collingwood had their chances to win but their skill level and that pitiful Malthouse game plan lost the game today. Down by 4 points with no time left, time to take a few risks. No not Collingwood, still hug that boundary line!

I see the same s**t every year, talk up our chances and then lose the games we should win. Looks like another one of those years.

Yeah I thought you got a few stiff ones.

However, I thought there were a few HTB's we were pinged for, and also a 50 that we didnt receive after we got a free and one of your blokes played on and kicked a goal.

As for the 'lucky' 4 points .... well the better team won. Blame the umps all you want, but be a little gracious in defeat.

Yep agree, we really dont have anyone else to blame than ourselves for that performance, umpires only exacerbated the problem. For a side that came out saying they want to win a premiership this year, we didnt even look like we wanted to win for alot of the match.

I loved it when Ben Reid laid the brilliant tackle on the Adelaide player right in front of goals where he dropped it blatantly and no free kick was paid.

Better is debatable. Better on the day, I'll concede but as i say and as you, and it seems most, acknowledge the umpiring definitely helped your cause. That 50m penalty could have been paid but it was still in the back 50 so nothing lost. We got some stinkers that re****ed in a pass - goal. They are the ones that really hurt.

For the first time in ages, i think we actually won centre clearances so I am not blaming selection.
