Was at the game today, great gutsy win from the boys :)

However it seemed that there were 3 teams playing, in that the boys in yellow were having such an influence in the game it wasnt funny. Umpiring is a hard job and we need them, but both teams supporters from todays game were looking at each other bewildered at some of the calls.

Umpires ether are gonna officiate tightly for the game or like they did when we played against St Kilda and let the game run for both teams. You cant keep switching between types of umpiring.

So many times, i looked at my port mate and was wondering how on earth of some of the stuff our defenders did and got away with.

When a player gets the ball, and just drops it an excuse cant be "he had no prior" IT IS INCORRECT DISPOSAL and constantly through the game they couldnt differ between the two.

Friday Nights blockbuster was poorly officiated as well, and it is wrecking our game to the point where as an observer im left in more doubt then not about was decision is going to be mae

I know its umpiring week, but if you want the respect from the players and fans, you should be seen and not heard and not the other way in what the AFL is trying to do. Do your job.

Was a horrible game of umpiring,

We have been in a few of late.

Nothing really favouring either side, but just not consistent and some horrible errors.

Seemed you guys took the most of the opportunities though and scored off a few. Really want them to be more consistent, week by week, and quarter by quarter.

Umpiring was disgraceful today, The AFL need to do something about umpire training or matchday simulation at training where there is a huge crowd roar factor one way or the other. They need to get these muppets to apply the rules and get more of their decisions right whether there is a huge home crowd roar or not.

Terrible umpiring today, what about when Judd was pulverised into the ground by 3 port players at half time I think and no free...plenty of others as well, but it;s the inconsistency that;s the prob

With the huge crowd roar factor

Im not umpiring expert but Motlops mark today was hands in the back yer
im not singling him out but every time theres a great speccy the rule goes out the door

just a bit of conistency

I agree with "The Smaller Warrior." Umpiring was shite both ways. Don't agree that we scored more of free kicks as there were 50's and high tackles around the Port Adelaide half that were just soooo soft.

Port players as a group seemed happy to try and get as many free kicks as possibly rather then make the ball the first objective.

The umpires never reward the player with the ball as his objective! This is my biggest criticism of umpiring these days. And the inconsistency...

Someone, anyone tell me how Gibbs got pinged for holding the ball there at 1 stage when he handballed the ball out after the tackle had slipped down his leg, dont come back with the 360 theory either as he barely had it.

I tought that Juddy dived in head first into the pack so he may have brought the contact onto himself head on but that doesn't excuse the in the back of sitting on top of head. Again he only had eyes for the ball yet didn't get reward.

A couple of glaring free kicks were:

Westhoff his best Kane Cornes impression and simply doing a 360 flop where there was minimal contact at best. He had a shot at goal but can't remember if he scored.

Waite elbow to the face before Pearce gave away a free kick. Don't know what Waite was doing in that 10 minutes of madness. Should have been a free to Pearce first but then he retaliated and the umpire saw that...

Lots more free kicks were paid because the game was simply pretty tough. You don't like the umpires to award soft free kicks when both sides are palying a decent standard of football and making it tough for anyone with the ball. Dissapointing method of interpretation I feel... :thumbsd:

Agree with those who say neither team was benefitted by the umpires

Sure, there were some poor decisions, but got to say on the whole I was rapt that they let the game go. That was a cracker game of football with both teams desperate, nothing worse than two teams playing like that and the umpire pulling out tiggy touchwood free kicks from the middle of packs

I was amazed when Judd had half their side jump on him and they did everything but a figure 4 leg lock on him and he still did'nt get a free, and then Grey got the ball and kicked a goal.

Terrible umpiring today.

That was the one that had me fuming as well.

Thats the thing, umpries were at some stages letting it go and it was great and then out of nowhere, for ethier side a silly free kick came

Carltons game against St Kilda was officated were good
and same with geelong as they let the whole game go and it was great to watch
even some of my geelong mates say that

Umpiring was a disgrace, they tried their hardest to give Port the win, how about when Gibbs gave off the hand ball and yet got pinged for throwing, what a joke.

That call totally surprised me and my mates who are neutral supporters. Maybe the umpires are trying too hard to affect the match as much as they can just because it's Umpire Appreciation Week?

I agree the umpiring overall today was terrible but for me this is one missed free kick I can live with as Judd just dived in underneath them and there wasn't much the Port blokes could of done to avoid any contact.

WTF! How in the world was that holding the ball. :thumbsd::thumbsd:

Firstly he wasn't tackled. He was simply held onto but by the time he hit the ground Cornes had lost his grip.

Secondly; he handballed! :eek::eek::eek:

Jesus christ!

I thought they were consistent at least.
Consistently terrible isn't the consistent we want though.

There was one in the first quarter where they got one in the forward pocket, i think for holding. I thought at first it must have been a down-field free but apparently it was for holding in a contest. Really wish i could remember it clearly because it was a shocker.

Jamison on Westhoff, soft as butter, they were not even in the contest as Gibbs had taken a mark 10 metres ahead of them and there was nothing in it anyway, ROAR FACTOR!!! shits me!

The AFL is making cards now, so we know their names and have more respect for them- they want every1 to have nicknames likes the vozzos, mclarens and razza rays

Why cant we have just the umpires do their job, and leaving the glorifying to the players

They also want to bring out postage stamps so that we're forced to lick their behinds as often as Ablett and Riewoldt do.
