Big signing and done relatively early too. Good to have it done.

Berta is cooking.

Get Eze, it's a fantastic window. Add Rodrygo too and it's phenomenal.
Feel like it’ll be Eze or Rodrygo, not both. I’d be happy to be wrong though.

Yep it won’t be both, it’s either or I believe. I think Eze is the more likely of the two (which is fine by me). Rodrygo’s touted fees and wages I don’t believe will happen.

Gyokeres scored almost a goal a game in Portugal.

Its not the premier league but that's impressive none the less.
If he scores half the goals in a season with us he'd still be streets ahead of anything we've had since Aubameyang... and we'll provide him opportunities. It's not like he's signed for Everton or something... 😅

Major penalty taker, but hey, someone has to step up.

Watching his goal scoring videos, what is apparent is:
  • he scores with both feet
  • he can absolutely hammer shots
  • he regularly picks the corner of the net
  • makes good back shoulder runs
  • makes good runs on fast breaks
  • very good set piece taker, both FK & Pens
  • physically aggressive
  • quick for a bigger guy

I reckon the fact he's aggressive with his runs in behind defenders will really help transform the side... Provided Arteta allows it, of course.

We have elite passers like Ødegaard and Zubimendi behind him, and players like Rice that loves to run with the ball, which creates gaps and space for a forward to exploit.

People mention the physicality of the EPL (which is fair enough), and he may well not be able to bully defenders like he does in Portugal. But he's strong and physically mature enough for the EPL to not be a shock to the system.

Can someone explain to me the hold up on the Gyokores deal?

It seems that the issue was the Agent fee, which seemingly Sporting were obliged to pay?

That fee comes out of any transfer fee, and as such any fee Sporting are demanding accounts for that extra amount? So a €65 million fee on paper really only equates to €60 million for the selling club, because they are playing €5 million to the agent for facilitating the deal.

I'm guessing that clause was written into the previous contract at the time of Gyokores signing for Sporting.

What a rort. As if Gyokores would have needed a my convincing to join Arsenal, so all the agent does is help negotiate favourable wages.

It's crazy to me that Agents can milk so much money out of clubs and their clients.

Oh... Ok I'm sold 😊

Fingers crossed it's all going to be signed off when we wake up in the morning.

If we can then bring in Eze & Mosquera that would be the perfect window for us to launch into some silverware this season.

My understanding of it is that the President reneged on a handshake agreement to let him leave for a package of around €60 million. Never got it in writing though, so once the interest in him spiked and it became apparent they could get way more than that, he went back on his word. Gyokeres has essentially gone on strike to try and force the deal through.

Can't say I blame their president too much for trying to extract maximum value when he's losing his best player and most valuable asset.

It's the middle of July and we've confirmed 3 signings, had 2 other "here we go" and an Ornstein confirmation on a striker.

Also had Big Gabi and MLS sign extensions, with Nwaneri not far away.

This is unheard of for Arsenal. 6 incomings before our preseason tour. Wow.

Good work arsenal. Let's start the season already!

Yes this is very un-Arsenal like, to be conducting this much incoming business. I recall 2012 when Wenger signed Podolski, Giroud and Cazorla earlier in the window. Only to find out that was largely due to RvP’s sale being lined up in the background.

Zinchenko or Trossard one of them at minimum I think will depart. And the sales of Vieira, Lokonga, Nelson will have very minimal impact to the first team.

This is great stuff. In addition to crucial renewals for Gabriel, MLS and Nwaneri imminent. With hopefully Saka and Saliba to come.

I’m relatively new to this thread, been posting on this board on and off for a few years but never really ventured into the teams threads before this year.

Had the pleasure of going to London for the first time ever for Chirstmas last year, and got to go to my first ever Premier League game, home against Ipswich Town.

The match itself wasn’t much of a spectacle. It was a low block with the whole team behind the ball the entire game pretty much, can’t expect much else when a relegation battler is playing away to 2nd place.

We went to the team shop mid morning to get a scarf so I could do the obligatory photos holding up the scarf, then to fill in some time we spent an hour or two just walking the streets of N5. It’s a lovely area near the ground. A lovely local lady saw us trying to find our way into Highbury and gave us some directions as well as having a good chat with us while she walked to her home. Said she’d been living there for years and used to be able to hear the crowd from Highbury clear as day from her living room.

After supporting this club for near on 15 years, finally getting to a game at The Emirates was really special. Singing North London Forever is something that will stay with me for a very long time.

We went back the next day for the proper stadium tour which was pretty cool as well, got some awesome photos from the dugout.

I've tried to format this in a way so my photos don't hog too much of the screen. Photos from my trip are behind the spoiler button for those who are interested. Anyway, just wanted to give myself a late introduction :) COYG
