The absolute melts going on at R/Gunners. I ****ing hate our fanbase.

People acting like Brentford isn't a hard fixture. They've beaten Liverpool, Man United , Villa x 2, Newcastle x 2, Drawn with Arsenal and Chelsea and lost 0-1 to City at home so far this season. City still have to play them again too.

People just look at the club name and if it isn't a "big 6" then it should be easy 3 points. That's just not how the Premier League is anymore. Every. Fixture. Is. Hard.

City still have to play Chelsea (draw in last meeting), Brentford (win), Aston Villa (loss), Arsenal (draw) and Newcastle (loss). Am I insane thinking City will probably drop more points before the season is out? Why is everyone handing them the final 12 games as forgone "Ws". What am I missing?

They lost to Man United, they drew with Tottenham (being 2-0 up) and needed a injury-time penalty to get a win over Liverpool. Other than that they've beaten 20th placed Wolves at home (so did we?) and Fulham at home in their last 5 games. How is that any indicator of unstoppable momentum?

You know what's ****ing mental?

In the last 102 Premier League games.....Arsenal have lost 12. Liverpool has lost 16. Man City have lost 17.

Of those 17 City losses, 14 have come in the last 64 games. 20% of their games have resulted in a loss.

Arsenal have 7 losses over the same period, 10%.

Looks nice and all when you read it, but it means nothing when we have won nothing over that same period.

The final against City coming up is a test of mental strength. Is it hyperbole to suggest losing that will cook the season? Time will tell.

Until this team locks in a major trophy, the narrative of choking and bottling will linger. No one says the same for City as they've already done it.

The pressure is going to start ramping up now. That pressure of stumbling and bottling it. The pressure of the Carabao Cup final. The pressure of City within arms length. That’s what will kill this title tilt.

Yes Arsenal just have to contend with this and conquer it, until they do, that tag is going to hang around. The best way to squash that is to go out and win it. The question marks will linger until Arsenal achieves that major trophy such as the premier league.

It was never going to be easy or gifted. However equally we’re also wanting to see someone at crunch time step up and put the foot to the throat, go on a title winning late run such as Ljungberg in 2002, Salah last year, the likes of de Bruyne in years past.

Saka is perhaps the most likely however we did not handle that last 20 minutes well at all, couldn’t get the ball to him, in fact that right hand side really shut down with Odegaard limping and Timber gassed (White meanwhile sat on the bench).

Brentford were outstanding and in prior seasons Arsenal would have collapsed and lost. Sure, it’s 2 points dropped from a winning position, however maybe we look back on this an important point gained. Time will tell.

Next league match is against Wolves next week then an NLD next weekend. Must win both because then Arsenal will have those points on the board and the game in hand over City until they play their rescheduled league match (due to the Cup Final).

For me right now, the main issue is that 10 position. Eze coasted and was hooked accordingly. Odegaard looks injured to me, wouldn’t be surprised to hear it’s more ligament damage from that clash. And then Nwaneri loaned, Merino surgery, Havertz out for a month. We need to get that position cooking again in Havertz’s absence.

You realise we haven't won the league in 22 years? Of course our fans are going to be jumpy. We have had opportunities to cement a huge lead and we keep leaving the door ajar. It's all well and good to spout confidence but our attack looks rubbish at the moment. Sure Brentford are good but we took a 1-0 lead and should have gone on with it. I'm really concerned, Havertz is an enormous loss, no Merino. Not sure we can keep relying on City stuffing up, they will sniff blood now.

Stubborn Arteta refusing to rotate Timber, etc. because he is too control focussed and risk adverse.

He's going to burn out some of our players. Saka and Ødegaard were ran into the ground in previous seasons and they haven't been the same since - we've had two years of both getting niggling injuries constantly.

This risk adverse style of play makes our attackers worse too. You couldn't say that any single one of them is having a better than expected season, never mind a great season.

Is there any way we can bring Nwaneri back?

The idea was for him to play under De Zerbi. And we need reinforcements with all the injuries.
A commentator said there is a no break clause because only for five months

There’s no recall clause in his loan deal. It doesn’t look great now given De Zerbi has been sacked. It was tempting fate to assume that the midfield options would stay as stacked as they were at the time of sanctioning his loan. I do feel there’s more to this Odegaard injury as well that may be revealed the next few days.

Also felt Arteta didn’t react to Timber flagging. The right hand side was clearly deteriorating and White would have been perfect in that situation for the closing 15 minutes.

How is that only a yellow?

It's a good point to take away. Martinelli, damn. But we were just as lucky that Brentford didn't capitalise on the chances they had, particularly late on.

5 days before the Wolves game, need to refocus and get back to our best.

Disappointed. But we looked out on our feet in that last half hour. And is that the 4th or 5th game in a row in wet, rainy conditions? Reckon all the players, not just at Arsenal, are feeling the slog at the moment. The thing that gives me hope is that City are going for the quadruple too. They'll be every bit as exhausted as us.

Arsenal have to work exceptionally hard to score, too often I’ve felt that way. And it’s quite taxing on the players, exhausts a lot of energy then having to defend slender leads and fine margins. I don’t know if that’s sustainable.

Every now and then we break the shackles and can score in quick succession (against Villa, and Leeds etc) however we also do need someone to be the game changer, break the game open, smack one in or take the match into their own hands. Too often they didn’t take the shot this morning, or took too many touches.

How I’d love Saka to make the next few months his own, that was probably the logic in bringing him on this morning but unfortunately the team was stretched by then and couldn’t even get the ball to Saka.

The danger for Arsenal in going away to Wolves and away to Spurs is freshness. Arsenal would’ve played 3 times before that NLD, Spurs have 12 days off. That was the difference in that loss to United. They had all the legs in the final 15 minutes.

We certainly need an individual or two to stand up in the in final leg of this season. 01/02 I feel in love with Freddie, scoring in all those games at the end of the season when we won 13 in a row plus the FA Cup final, assisting Wiltords goal at Old Trafford. Trossard was that player 2 seasons ago scoring in the final run in despite falling short, Henry in 03/04 when we went on a 9 game winning streak, Bergkamp/Overmars 97/98. We have the defence to win the league, we just need an individual or 2 to put it in the net at the other end.

So true. Freddy went bananas at the end of 01/02. I feel that Saka is the man.

Speaking of goal scoring, this was an interesting piece. I’ve felt this is not sustainable over the course of a title run and seems the numbers support that. The situation is calling out for someone to step up and take this into their hands.

Who’s saying that? Wouldn’t surprise me. Similar to earlier in the season when he had that knee clash and damaged ligaments as a result.
Seems to be called ITN News. Radio football program. Weekend breakfast (UK )
