First half we played too within ourselves after scoring the early goal. Nearly paid for it with lack of concentration late in the half also. 2nd half we were on it, Nelson got a lot of confidence from the goal. Odegaard and Partey lifted big time. The ball just doesn’t want to go in for Jesus
:pensive:
. Thought White and Saliba were great although we had little defending to do. Fabio was rather poor when he came on which was disappointing. All in all lovely to get a big confidence boosting win…
Fingers crossed Saka is ok to play at the Bridge, I think we’ll need him…

I tried to ignore it after the first 6 or 7 games, but **** it, I'm gonna enjoy this. Not often anyone sits above City after 12 played. Still can't see us winning the league but at least we are giving them something to think about and are keeping them on their toes

How many of our squad are going to be key players and go deep into the world cup 🤔
Not at all for Scotland, Ukraine, Norway and Egypt all failed to qualify. Switzerland, England, Ghana and Japan not likely to go far.

Saka and Jesus will play alot I imagine... Odegaard depending how deep they go.

Then ?

Saka would play a considerable amount of minutes of England’s matches I’d imagine.

Brazil are spoiled for choice with their attacking options, remains to be seen whether Jesus and/or Martinelli will even be selected. Gabriel I think will. For their sake, I hope so as representing the national team is vastly important for Brazilians in particular.

Partey would play every minute for Ghana if fit. Norway haven’t qualified I don’t believe so Odegaard will be one of many who would have that extended break.

Saka is the only player really. Southgate doesn't select White so we don't need to worry about him.

Jesus doesn't start for Brazil. Don't Gabriel think starts too. Martinelli definitely won't. Vincius owns that LW for Brazil.

Marquinhos and T. Silva in the middle.

Yes I recall reading Gabriel will likely be their 4th choice centre half in the squad. Unsure how many minutes he’ll actually play (if selected).

Amazing White isn’t in the picture for England. They have a few injuries at RB and White’s versatility is surely an asset to their squad. Having quite an excellent season so far, seems to be flying under the radar a bit.

Missed the first half but watched the entire second half. We came out breathing fire after half time and were ruthless.

Our pressing and pressure was excellent.

Everyone played well, bar Vieira who was very poor after coming on.

Ødegaard and Partey's goals were brilliant.

I loved the control from Odegaard for Nelson's second.

If Southgate had any balls the England squad should be:

CF - Kane, Toney, Abraham

AM - Foden, Mount
LW - Sterling, Grielish
RW - Saka, Bowen

CM1 - Bellingham, Maddison, Ward-Prowse
CM2 - Rice, Phillips (if fit)

LB - Chilwell, Walker (if fit) or Shaw
RB - James + one of TAA or Trippier
CB - Stones, White, Dier, Guehi, Tamori

GK - Pickford, Pope, Ramsdale

No Maguire, J. Henderson, Sancho or Rashford. But you know he will be a coward and pick those four, despite their form (I acknowledge that TAA and Abraham haven't been in good form either).

I find it interesting that you consider Southgate’s willingness to stick to his preferred formation and preferred players in the face of unrelenting criticism as cowardice. The cowards way would be to abandon his own principles and make more popular choices like drop McGuire, play TAA, Madison. Whether you rate him as a manager or not, he doesn’t bow to external pressure.

I think he's too scared to take a chance and make those big calls. He will pick the older and experienced players that have been underperforming.

Excellent finish from Tierney. He really needed that.

Strongish line up again. Elneny back way before expected is a bonus.
