Was such an ugly game. Cucurella the little rat deserved about 4 yellow cards in the first 30 minutes.
Saka was kind of poor though got the assist but didn't really challenge him.
4 minutes added time after all the chelsea time wasting was a joke

This is like an Essendon type injury run. My boy (Tross) was badly missed.
Think we might cull you and your bad luck.

Evening Standard Injury Brief!

Kai Havertz: Close to returning and the player wants to be involved against Aston Villa

Trossard: Likely to be fit for Wednesday game vs Brentford

Gabriel Jesus: He is available

Gabriel Magalhães: Targeting a return at the end of December

Saliba: Further tests to confirm the time frame of his absence.

Dec 2 (Reuters) - Two draws in three Premier League games have stalled Arsenal's progress and although they still have a five-point lead at the top, Mikel Arteta has called on his team and their fans to bring energy "like animals" when they play Brentford on Wednesday.

7.30pm. Like animals, everybody at the Emirates, to go again and beat Brentford. That's the opportunity. Vital. Massive."

I can't ****ing stand this type of shit, it's such lazy journalism without context.

2 draws in our last 3 premier league games, coming against (at the time) 2nd placed Sunderland away....and again away at 2nd placed Chelsea.

We've stopped two team directly in competition with us for top spot from gaining, and increased our lead over all in that 3 game stretch (albeit by a single point).

I'm sick of a world where anything other than a 5-0 win is seen as a failure. Progression isn't always ****ing linear, it doesn't always go up and up and up. Points will be dropped. Games will be lost.

Look at the last few league seasons at each Champion's points dropped:
Liverpool - 9 Draws 4 losses
Man City - 7/3
Man City - 5/5
Man City - 6/3
Man City - 5/6
Liverpool - 3/3 - 99 points
Man City - 2/4 - 98 points (and yes Liverpool went 7/1 to finish 2nd - 97 points)
Man City - 4/2 - 100 points
Chelsea - 3/5

We had an (unbelievable) 14 draws last season, with 4 losses.
20-14-4 in 24/25
28-5-5 in 23/24
26-6-6 in 22/23

Arsenal are currently 9-3-1 after 13 games. If we assume this trend will continue, we'll be looking at a 26-8-4 or thereabouts season. Given City already have 4 losses, Liverpool 6, Chelsea 3 etc etc etc the title winner this season is definitely going to have less points than the last 3 seasons (unless something crazy happens).

Everyone just needs to calm the **** down.

Now with some injured forwards returning, this is a good opportunity to manage the minutes of some players tomorrow morning. Saka, Merino, Eze, Rice, Timber in particular have played a lot of football. Especially with Villa away on the weekend, that’s a big game.

Would like to see Gyokeres, Odegaard, White, Madeueke and Martinelli start tomorrow. Arteta unlikely to make that many changes to the starting lineup however.

Think we have to be cautious with the guys coming back from injury. Rice and Merino have engines anyway but should see Norgaard get some minutes. Martinelli and Madueke I agree should start and White.

Norgaard up against his old team should feature in this one. There’s also the CL match mid week next week against Brugge that week we should be looking to manage some players.

I agree that Rice and Merino certainly have that engine to keep going. I’m wary though of what happened last January, Arteta referred to Havertz as a “genetic powerhouse” or something to that effect. Shortly after he tears his hamstring off the bone and has hardly played since unfortunately.
