Eze was preparing to come on at 3-1, but then we conceded. Smarter to put Merino on instead when defending a 1 goal lead.

Eze will play. We have a lot of games coming up.

Yes that’s right I did recall seeing him preparing. It was the right call not to throw him on at 3-2. His defensive aspect is still developing, he was culpable in Villa’s opener a few weeks ago and clearly that’s fresh in the memory for Arteta. Merino I thought was important in those moments and with Gyokeres off we needed an out ball, and the 2nd duels became crucial.

The game styles naturally dictates what we do or don’t do off the bench. Just to have the options there itself is a real strength for Arsenal. We’re ahead in a premier league game away and have the ability to bring on Saka and Trossard and Jesus with half an hour remaining. With Eze as an unused sub. Phenomenal.

The Liverpool game is huge. Thankfully it's at home, and given the difference in form, I'd really hope we can roll them over. Need to be targeting their full backs.

I want to beat Liverpool for the statement it will make. We've lost to Liverpool and drawn to Man City so far this season.

I think we need to beat Liverpool to kind of put the message out there " Ok we are serious now".

At the end of the day this game won't define our season, but I think it be a massive mental boost if we get a good result. If we can beat Liverpool, our back end to the season is looking very decent:

Nott Forrest (17th) (A) - (Last years resulting points -1pt)
Leeds (16th) (A) - n/a
Brentford (10th) (A) - 3pt
Tottenham (13th) (A) - 3pt
Brighton (8th (A) - 1pt
Wolves (20th) (A) - 3pt
Man City (3rd) (A) - 1pt
West Ham (19th) (A) - 3pt
Palace (11th) (A) - 3pt

Man United (6th) (H) - 3pt
Sunderland (7th) (H) - n/a
Chelsea (5th) (H) - 3pt
Everton (9th) (H) - 1pt
Bournemouth (15th) (H) - 0pt
Newcastle (14th) (H) - 3pt
Fulham (12th) (H) - 3pt
Burnley (19th) (H) - 0pt

We've currently only got 4 games remaining against teams in the top 6 (currently - Liverpool, City, Chelsea, United) and 3 of those are at home.

I'd be very very surprised if Martinelli has much longer at the club tbh. I have a sneaking suspicion that he could possibly be moved on this month if there's a really really good deal to be done. Trossard will leave at the end of the season so it means the left side starting spot will be vacant. I think Eze might be the option to play that left attacking role.

Arteta has said we are "actively looking" to sign players in Jan......hopefully that means Arsenal fan Semenyo joins his favorite club :moustache:

I agree. Beating a club of Liverpool's stature would be huge and show everyone we aren't here to **** around.

I'd love for us to go for Ndiaye. Very good player. Rogers too. And what makes you think Trossard will leave?
Liverpool are looking absolutely dog shit at the moment but will probably turn into a prime Klopp team when the come to our place

Not sure I'd go that far but I'm pretty bloody happy

It’s been a handy few days. 2 wins for Arsenal, 2 draws for City, and the gap changes from 2 points to 6.

However literally that can be eaten up in a week. Or even in half a week with the volume of football this time of year. Couple of poor results from Arsenal and that lead vanish in no time.

Still need to go to City later this season so that in itself is a potential 3 point swing. Shitload more football still to come and Arsenal just have to get right back to business against Liverpool Friday morning. Must win that match especially after losing the away fixture.

Trossard was close to leaving pre-season from memory, before signing a wage increase on his contract til 2027 (but not extending).

Given that the club will be looking to sell to buy, we would be looking to recover some of the £27m we paid for him. At 31 and in very good form, his value won't be any higher than at the end of this season. From a pragmatic position, there's not a better time to sell.

I think Arsenal are actively looking to bring in the next level of quality, hence the links around a player like Rodrygo. If you could turn Martinelli + Trossard = Rodrygo/Semenyo/Ndiaye (insert whoever), you wouldn't do it?

It's purely speculation on my part.

Man.....

I turned off the Fulham v Liverpool game when Gakpo scored.
I turned off the Man City v Chelsea game at the 90th minute.

Nice way to wake up.

So both Chelsea and Man United have sacked their managers.

Both will have new ones for the rest of the season, including our games against them.

I mean......it couldn't be falling our way anymore though could it?

At Porto, Kiwior has flourished. He has quickly become a commanding presence at the back and appears well placed to help guide the club towards a league title in his first season there. His influence has been evident in Porto’s defensive solidity, with clean sheets playing a key role in their campaign.

Porto have given up four goals all season.

Could be more depth if returns from loan
