If you can’t win the match, make sure you don’t lose it at least. The gap remains 6 points as it was coming into the matchday, which is what I expected anyway. Albeit with a different set of results, I expected City to defeat Brighton and Arsenal to win this one. Not two draws. But it is what it is.

Clean sheet, no attempts on target from Liverpool. Just like the good old days.

Four away games in four different competitions. Let's see what our depth can do...

See my thoughts are **** him. Had the ability to twice scoot his arse further on to the field of play.
He did but there's no need for Martinelli to involve himself

If he was tine wasting then fair game but he did look like he'd legitimately been injured.

Poor performance and a wasted opportunity to beat a very weakened Liverpool at home. Thankfully City drew as well.

Gyökores is so bad. Havertz needs to come back ASAP.

Both Havertz and Jesus have effectively been out for a year so I understand Arteta’s caution in managing their load and expectations. However the moments that Gyokeres didn’t get on his bike to get on some of those balls, particularly that cutback from Rice, surely has to questioned.

I’d imagine the next matches being Cup games will see lots of rotation. For the next league game which I think is away to Forest, I’d like to see a change at centre forward.

Pretty much what I expected, glad I didn't stay up to watch it. Liverpool out of form was still going to be a tough game, add in the poor conditions you get a traditional English slog.

As glenferry23 said, if you cant win make sure you don't lose. Draws are not bad results in isolation.

Now with some cup games hopefully recovering players can get some minutes to get up their fitness and sharpness, and others can get some rest.

Both Arteta and Raya have been quoted saying similar post match, make sure you dont lose the game etc. Clearly they have that loss to Villa at home in between the Bayern Munich tie fresh in the memory still. When Arsenal went for it late and got sucker punched twice as a result. That effectively was the difference in the title.

It’s fascinating watching how both City and now Liverpool have set up at The Emirates this season. It doesn’t really get discussed because as we know many people want/wait for Arsenal to stumble to chime in and pile on. However they have defended so deep with a clear tactic to not really play their game. Which is fine of course, that’s football.

The regret for Arsenal though the game was there to be won, and continually the final action and the final ball was lacking. So many crosses and cutbacks that came to nothing. It is what it is, no damage done really to the table. However it was an opportunity spurned to really press forward and stamp an 8 point advantage.

And this is always something that strikes me as odd from fanbases, I'd rather a pragmatic approach to games rather than a one-style-fits-all approach.

How many times did we watch Wenger's beautiful football be utterly voided by teams. When Wenger's Plan A worked, Arsenal played the best football in the world. When it didn't, Arsenal played the worst football in the world. There was no compromising from Wenger which was his managerial Achilles heel. So many points lost because he would not alter his tactics to suit the opposition. I'd rather a manager that is adaptive to the needs of the moment.

Yeah and that is an issue, we don't really seem to take advantage of players driving into the box and cutting back in any of our games. Considering we often have Rice, Odegaard, Zubi etc being around the box you would think there's ample opportunties for cut-back shots.

The only game I can think of where this was fully exploited was the Tottenham game with Eze's hattrick.

Gyokeres is not the answer. I have given up on him. I want(ed) him to succeed, but it's clearly not working.

He isn't mobile enough, the touch is poor, he doesn't make the right runs.

Havertz needs to be the starting centre forward.

He's just levels below what is required, unfortunately. I love his attitude, but I see very few redeemable qualities in his game.

Poor touch, doesn't get to dangerous spots, isn't fast enough to worry defenders, cannot pass, cannot head the ball despite his size, cannot trap the ball under pressure, can't carry the ball and is unable to drop deep. He just works hard, which is the expectation.

At least with Havertz we knew he was versatile, has a nice touch, and can pass the ball around.

Beefy Havertz can hold off defenders, hustle like Gyökores, and then do so much more. I'm looking forward to him finally coming back.
