He may be a little **** but firstly this guy is all about winning, secondly he's the best sports politicer(dunno if that's a word:D) in the world even better than a certain Teflon David Dein.Thirdly he's set up some of the biggest if not the biggest sponsorships in world sport ever, he's got loads of contacts, get him on board & I bet our sponsorship revenue would soar.

Bernie is also a bit of a tyrannical autocratic dictator.

He'd make himself director of football!

I'm not sure he is about winning, more about making money. How it comes doesn't really matter to him. You could argue that the best way to make money is to win, you could also make an argument that you can make a lot by lifting ticket prices, selling off your best players etc.

Got that right.

Bernie charges £40m every year for, for example, the BRDC to host the British GP at Silverstone. £40m that goes straight into his own coffers more or less. Nevermind that the British GP is his home race and hasn't run at a profit in years, all Bernie has to do is lower his fee to host the race and the BRDC wouldn't be nearly bankrupt trying to support an 80-year-old grand prix in what is one of the spiritual homes of motor racing.

He would do exactly the same thing if he owned a football club - ticket prices would be even higher than their already ridiculous levels, there'd be no money made available for transfers and he'd be interfering with everything. The guy is a complete prick and cares only where he's going to get his next billion from. I would much rather Kroenke owning the Arsenal than Bernie.

Yeah but in his favour as far as I'm aware he's no history of human rights abuses.;)

Although his 7 foot tall Serbian wife has been known to knock him about a bit.

DB10 what's your view on my question about Eduardo saying that he now plays left & right rather than centre forward.

Anything there or do you think he's been bought to play down the middle at the top?

After reading about it I think he'll play him wideish and then Eduardo will come inside a lot, sort of like Henry did and what van Persie already does. I guess it's a matter of necessity since we have no real wingers.

Well presumably if he's right footed then he'd play on the left cutting in to score rather than cross.

Bit like Overmars for me, although he was a winger playing him on the left his main strength was his goals. Was a totally different use of him than if we'd used him on the right.

If Eduardo is good on the ball & presumably quick then we could be the goal scoring heir on the left to Overmars & Pires.

That's where we need to rediscover our goal scoring & then with Walcott maybe on the right I reckon he'll weigh in with a few.Hleb to be on the outer & Rosicky to step it up or get left behind.

I can see the first choice side being

Jens
Sanga/Eboue, Toure, Gallas, Clichy
Walcott, Cesc, Gilberto, Eduardo
Van Persie, Adebayor

With Walcott to be regularly rested for either Hleb/Rosicky.

Eduardo da Silva is looking to make a big impression in his first season at Arsenal, although he admits he will not be able to emulate Thierry Henry's achievements for the club.

Arsene Wenger moved quickly to bring in da Silva following Henry's departure to Barcelona, and the Brazilian-born Croatian has a superb goalscoring record in recent seasons.
However, the former Dinamo Zagreb forward knows it will not be easy to follow Henry and has warned the fans not to expect too much.
"I don't think anyone can fill Henry's boots. A player who does as much for Arsenal as Henry did will only come around once every 50 years," da Silva told the Arsenal Magazine.
"It will be impossible for me to do what he did. All I can hope to do is please the club, the coach and the fans."
Da Silva is confident he can have a good first season at Emirates Stadium as he insists he has always been a reliable team player.
Describing his style, he said: "I'm a player who runs a lot, is disciplined and who scores.
"I've played centre-forward but now play more on the left or right. I'm a team player and will always run back to mark.
"My style is closer to the Europeans - not like Robinho or one of these Brazilian players that like to dribble a lot.
"I'm a player that likes to do my bit, who the coach can tell what to do, and does it with speed and strength."
Da Silva accepts that it may take time to adjust to the Premier League but believes Wenger is the perfect mentor for a young player.
"English football is faster and more physical and the quicker I adapt, the better," he explained. "Arsene Wenger is very good. People say he is the best coach in the world."

do you think if/when ljungberg signs for the hammers arenal will need another winger?

or do you think walcott, hleb, rosicky and probably eboue depending on how wenger uses sagna will be sufficient for 40+ games?

Has anyone seen the third kit? Not a fan of any of the two new ones!

This leaves only Jens, Gilberto & Toure.
