Giroud was huge for us. His defensive side was brilliant and his assist world class.
Thought he was woeful in the first half but thankfully pulled his finger out in the second. Brilliant assist.

Giroud's last 20 minutes or so we're pivotal. Would've had the winner if not for an unbelievable save from Kasper. That was ridiculous.

His knock down assist for Theo was quality. Then followed it up by knocking Theo to the ground. Had to laugh.

Brilliant result. Gee they leave it late though! I nearly broke the couch when Wellbecks goal went in. An interesting stat that was highlighted by Fox sports last night was that Arsenal have won 3 and drawn 1 of their games against the other teams in the top 4 this year which is comfortably the best record of all top 4 teams. In comparison Man City have only gleaned 1 point in 4 games against the same teams. The reason that we are not running away with the title is that we have dropped points to the likes of Norwich and West Bromich Albion and those 2 losses to Chelsea have really damaged the cause as well. If Arsenal want to win the title and lets face it this has got to be the year, they will have to get maximum points from all the remaining games against the mid to lower teams. I have the feeling that by May it could be that other mob from North London that emerge as the main rivals. They are looking pretty awesome at the moment.

Few thoughts on the players:

- Kos and Mert mostly solid. Chambers also. He handled the situation impressively after coming on.

- Bellerin and Monreal were immense. ******* immense. Mahrez did diddly-squat all game bar one pathetic dive, and Nacho's only blemish was overcommitting on Vardy. Monreal won that freekick at the death. Best fullbacks in the league.

- Ramcoq makes us 10x stronger in midfield. They still need time, but overall it's good signs. Should be a lot harder for teams to get ahold of us now. Very fortunate that Drinkwater's challenge didn't completely **** Ramsey's leg up.

- Alexis is rusty. A few half chances and scuffed shots he would otherwise be scoring. Nothing to worry about - he'll come good soon.

- Ozil. What more can you say. Decent game, but the most clutch delivery you'll see in a game of that magnitude.

- Giroud put in a shift. Tough going against Morgan and Huth, but notched a fine assist and could've had the winner if it wasn't for save of the season by Schmeichel. A world class CF performance.

- Walcott/Welbeck - impressive cameos. Nice to see Welbeck back. Reassuring to see Wenger both have a decent sub bench, and then be able to make the correct decisions with it.

Our final 12 games:

Manchester United (a)
Swansea City (h)
Tottenham (a)
West Brom (h)
Everton (a)
Watford (h)
West Ham (a)
Crystal Palace (h)
Sunderland (a)
Norwich (h)
Manchester City (a)
Aston Villa (h)

8-9 wins from 12 will be enough to win the league. If we can win at OT against a United side bereft of any fit experienced fullbacks, then we're every chance.

Hopefully Jose doesn't take over before then.

Need to win the 6 games at the Emirates as we play 5 teams in the bottom half + Watford and win 3 of the 6 away games.

Should be winning those home games for sure. Palace haven't been great lately but could prove a tricky fixture as could Watford. The rest of those home games should be wins if we are serious.

The away games are very difficult. United have been poor but have been grinding out results all season plus the fact we usually suck at OT. We've looked to change that over the last couple of seasons and they did lose to Sunderland so you'd expect three there.

West ham have played well against the big sides but are worse at home from memory although recent results have been shown some consistency again. Everton could go either way. One week they are amazing, the next they are utter tripe.

Tottenham and City are the big two. If we can get a win or draws from either of those, that possibly means that we've knocked them out of the race and are only having to hope Leicester drop points.

Copied my thoughts from the matchday thread

- Brilliant save from Cech from Vardy's header. Massive.
- From the highlights, it looks like Ox remembered he was actually a footballer.
- Foul on Ozil leading up to the penalty IMO
- As for the penalty, Vardy runs into Monreal. Monreal is not moving when Vardy runs into him, thus not a penalty IMO. Stupid to leave a leg out but he is stationary. If a defender is standing still in the box and a CF runs into him, does that mean it's a penalty too? Well taken penalty.
- Stupid from Simpson, absolutely stupid. Both yellows.
- Drinkwater should have been off for the hack on Ramsey.
- Giroud's flick for Walcott was brilliant. Took all the pace off the ball and knocked it right into his path. Fantastic
- The Huth/Giroud thing looks more ball to hand, but seen them given.
- Schmeichel's save late on was world class, phenomenal.
- Welbeck? What more can you say. Great ball in from Mesut and a great header to send Arsenal fans into ecstasy.

Also, why didn't Mahrez play? :D

Steered clear of the Matchday thread last night as was watching with my GF (have managed to convert her to a fan), looks like it was a good decision!

Not our best performance but a huge win nonetheless, the confidence that goes with it along with the points will be huge, with Leicester now having 2 weeks to dwell on the loss too.

I thought the pen was the right call live so can understand the refs decision, should never have been in that position though for the obvious foul on Ozil. Simpson can have no complaints, he arguably made 2 or 3 other fouls that deserved yellows along with the 2 that were paid.

Credit has to go to AW for this subs. Chambers did well in the second half and the other 2 scored.

So, Hull next up in the Cup. Wonder what team we'll put out.

Welbeck would likely start but on the right or up front with Giroud having a rest?
