As The great Henry used to say if the striker is good enough the goals are big enough were you can take the keeper out of the equation, we simply have poor wasteful finishers.

We have needed a top class striker since RVP left ( 4 seasons now ) and I can't see us being able to get anyone in the summer either, its just depressing.

A striker isn't the problem. Giroud has 18 goals in 30 appearances, a decent return for any forward.

It's the rest of the team not lifting their weight and helping out. If Giroud doesn't score then we are ****ed.

Sanchez was weighing in with the goals last season but he's out of form. He has 10 goals this season.

Ozil, not exactly known for his scoring has 6.

Walcott has 6
Ramsey has 5
Campbell has 3....
Ox has 2......
Welbeck has 1....
Cazorla has none.

18 goals in 37 appearances which I agree is decent but when your midfield contributes like ours does we really need someone world class ( Thats not Giroud's fault though)

Walcott 6 goals in 30 appearances with a shot to goal ratio of 8% is ****ing laughable for a player on his wages.

Yeah, replacing Walcott/Ox with Isco/Reus would clearly help that too. How Ox is rated so highly within the club I'll never know.

Isco isn't a prolific goal scoring midfielder, but he's certainly a huge upgrade on the regular gash we play at RW. While Reus just has it all. Ox offers what exactly...

Him, Walcott and Flamini are just not up to it. We'll probably lose a title to Spurs because of it.

Yet Wenger will still likely be rewarded with a contract extension despite his faith in gash and letting our money sit away in cash reserves.

Anyway, overall, our reserves absolutely dominated the match (yes, against a weak opposition) but lacked a bit of luck and accuracy in front of goal. Hull's keeper played a blinder - on any other day it would've been a regulation 1-0 or 2-0 win. It's far preferable for 1) our accuracy to fail us, and 2) an opposition keeper to play a blinder against us, in last night's game rather than a league game. I'm aware that isn't entirely logical, but luck with these things tends to operate in a "swings and roundabouts"-type way.

A Welbeck - Walcott - Campbell front three was never going to be cohesive. Welbeck hasn't started for 11 months, Walcott isn't anyone's idea of a clinical CF, and Campbell is down on confidence because Wenger has reverted to not using him anymore. Sanchez and Giroud came on too late, Sanchez is still in a rut, but it's nothing a bit of good management by Wenger and a PL or UCL goal won't help. It's all mental, and he's too good not to come out of it soon.

The biggest positive was Elneny. He looks the part and is ready to play league games now. The second biggest positive was no injuries.

The Flamini/Ox/Walcott issues are nothing new to any of us, and this game was just more evidence of what we already knew. And the replay isn't a huge deal. It will replace the Swansea game - which is probably a good thing, considering United and Spurs sandwich it - or be played in the middle of the following week. Meh.

The problem is does the manager realise this ? Or we just going to be stuck with the same tripe in 12 months time whilst apparently no players are out there that can improve our squad ?

If we take it seriously we should make the Semi finals, the problem is Wenger will probably prioritise the 2nd Leg at the Nou Camp when we head to Spain with a likely 2 goal deficit over the FA cup.

My football app says the replay is at 6:45am on Thursday 10th March. Which is 4 days after the NLD and 3 before we play West Brom. Probably the ideal spot. Can see both sides naming similarly inexperienced teams.

Can anyone confirm?

It will likely be earlier than that, the quarters are set to take place on the weekend of the 12th and 13th.

Is anyone actually looking forward to the 1st leg 2moz ?

Yes, a game against one of the greatest club sides of all time is surely something to look forward to watching as a spectacle.

Expecting a similar score to last year's Monaco result. 3-1 in the first leg, and the then there's the danger of being destroyed at the Camp Nou but that's a concern for another time.

But if we decide to play like we have in the 2nd legs in recent years, then you never know. Might get a result.

My line-up predictions

Ter Stegen; Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Alba; Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta; Messi; Neymar, Suarez

Cech; Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal; Coquelin, Ramsey; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Özil, Sanchez; Walcott

Sanchez and Ox simply have to sit deeper so we have two banks of four. Özil/Walcott waiting to counter. Looking forward to Mertesacker being exposed :$.

Preference

Cech; Bellerin, Chambers, Koscielny, Monreal; Coquelin, Ramsey; Campbell, Özil, Sanchez; Welbeck
