JPK like Pendles is one of those players who is very hard to get into your side, hardly has a bad game so you're not really ever going to get either of them for under $550k at the very least.

Except for last year with about 7 rounds to go and I opted for Jack Steven coz of the cruisy run home for the saints. I really need to start playing it safe with these picks I make but I am always looking for that high reward.

I get your point but I'm backing in my mid-priced madness strategy to pay off! Tuohy, Higgins, Steele, Jones doing me proud so far.
Three of those four players will need to be upgraded.

Obviously it depends how they go but i don't agree with the idea that you need to only own players that are in the top 10-15 (or whatever) in their position when you can own a mid-priced player that doesn't average as much throughout the year but potentially saves you money elsewhere in your team - and thus gives you extra points. SC is not as black and white as some try and make it. For instance I'll be happy to keep Higgins if he averages 90 even if that is 5-10 ppg off the best forwards, why? Because selecting him saved me money elsewhere which leads to potentially a 5-10 ppg increase in another position. You don't need the best 22 players at the end of the year, your team works as a unit not as individual players who 'must' average x amount or they should be upgraded, its not that simplistic. There are many ways to win this game, not just guns and rookies.

You're right actually, they don't need to be, depends what your goal is in Supercoach

Actually the success of your team largely depends on it's ppg output compared to other teams above you on the rankings, unless you're trying to win leagues with players that aren't that great, in which case it probably doesn't matter what you do :)

Of course it does but the point is that every score from your 22 players in round 1 to round 23 counts. This game is all about maximising value and points , compromise in 1 position allows you to strengthen other areas of your team. It is infact way too difficult to quantify but as a simplified example lets say Higgins averages 90 and the top 10 forwards all average 100, so i am losing 10 ppg per week owning Higgins. But what about the extra value that picking Higgins over say Dahlhaus throughout the season? That 100k could be the difference between a rookie averaging 50 and a mid-pricer averaging 60. Its all well and good to say i must maximise ppg by upgrading to the best players available, intuitively that makes sense but if i can use the trade to better effect elsewhere then it can be just as -if not more - valuable. In this game it is obviously pretty much impossible to come up with the perfect combination of players, its all about finding points where you can. Looking at one players average and saying with certainty that they must be upgraded is in fact totally incorrect, the game is not nearly that simple.

Case in point, in hindsight you could win this game owning none of the top 5 players in each position for the entire year while using 0 trades. How? Because you only selected players that improved their respective averages and as a cohesive unit they scored more points than owning a gun for 22 rounds and a rookie for x amount of rounds before trading down to another rookie who you owned for y amount of rounds! Guns and rookies is a great strategy because it simplifies the game...but the answer to whether a trade should be made is never black and white and only appears that way in hindsight. Everything is related so every decision you make has a flow on effect that is virtually impossible to quantify.

Hello BF community,

This year I tried really hard to get a good break out team for the start of the year and have been looking on this forum for expert advice as I know most of you make the top level.

I'm not too sure if this is the correct forum but I only got in the top 37% at the end of the round. I personally was really happy with this but most of you scored well above my score which made me think I am still in need of some significant help to get a decent team!

In general terms I am no SuperCoach Genius but I am going to include pictures of my team and if anyone has any advice that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much, I know its early in the season but if I need to make swaps I will do them before the price changes at round three.

PS: I hope this is okay to post in this forum! Screen Shot 2017-03-27 at 5.29.05 pm.png Screen Shot 2017-03-27 at 5.29.18 pm.png

Hannebery, Sloane, Cripps, Ward, L. Neale & R. Gray all looking like solid early upgrade options based on their poor performances.

Sloane and Cripps and the top of my list as UNFORTUNATELY, I started with Hanners & Neale - so I'm stuck with them for now!

Traded Josh Kennedy for Hanners at the last minute - kicking myself, but at the end of the day, if those 2 don't average 108-112 i'd be shocked.

Be wary of Gray.

I am hearing a few things that he may have OP.

Whoever drops really. Can't go with the pack, need to make some moves.

Started with the reliable stars in Danger, Pendles, JPK and Shaw. The only one I really want to get in is Gawn when he's in the 500s.

JJK I'll probably try and get in R13, his draw gets easier.

Tuohy, Steele and Higgins will all end up premo keepers IMO. :thumbsu:

Tuohy will be Top 5-10 defender.
Higgins will be Top 5 forward this year if fit.
Steele could be this years bolter.
The other mentioned Z.Jones wont be top 10 defender but will produce much better output than the excuses for rookies down back. Should be able to side swap him to a fallen at some stage.

Praying that Pendles and Selwood have a couple of stin kers - the sooner the better.

Cripps once he can bend down, Ward, maybe Sloane.

Already have Hanners.

I suspect Rance isn't a top 6 this year. More attacking Richmond gameplan might hurt him I reckon. Think I prefer 2E.

JJK or Budwah.

Good team but luck wasn't on your side this week.

Ones to keep an eye on - discounting the likes of Johannisen, Martin etc who look likely to jump into being a top player for their position, and the Dangerfield/Shaw types - so just looking for price drops

Gibson - 490k - 42 - good for an average of 90, if he drops to under 400k you would take that
Rance - 535k - 59

Priddis - 593k - 88
Sloane - 591k - 77
Ward - 574k - 76
Hannebery - 616k - 52
Cripps - 585k - 50
Gray - 588k - 38

Greene - 492k - 72
Gunston - 502k - 68
Rioli - 490k - 38
