I got it from JB in Melbourne, goes for about 50 mintues, got a few of his skits plus him doing tthe opening dialogue to the episode he hosted. Overall its a pretty good buy:)

Oh and in one of the skits hes Superman doing a radio interview:D :p

Of the newer shows that you have listed "Married with Children" is my favourite.

However there are many shows which I consider to be far superior

The Honeymooners
Get Smart
Mash (especially the early episodes)
Happy Days (especially the early episodes)
The Adams Family
Taxi
Mork and Mindy (only the very early episodes)

As a genuine sitcom The Honeymooners is hard to compete against, but poor old Ralph Kramden would be frowned upon these days with his famous line, "One of these days Alice, one of these days ...... pow, right in the kisser".
The Honeymooners, along with I Love Lucy, broke new ground for all sitcoms that followed. I didn't include I Love Lucy in my favourites coz whilst funny, Lucille Ball could also be damn aggravating.

The funniest US comedy show though has to be Get Smart (IMO)

The Simpsons, Seinfeld and Malcolm in the Middle for me.

I remember seeing a few funny Mad About You episodes as well but it just isn't up to standard like the shows I just mentioned.

RoosLuver,

Oh damn, I forgot about The Nanny as well!! Those one-liners from Niles to CC cracked me up and poor Fran, it took her five years to finally get Mr Sheffield to marry her!! LOL!! :D:D

The one, the only Seinfeld.

Also The Simpsons will always be seen as an all-time great.

Not Friends. I just find it as a cheap rip-off of Seinfeld that cashed in on their success.

i know someone who'll get a kick out of these...

Okies from the poll.............

Cheers by a mile, followed by Frasier.

Other shows I adore are:

Taxi
Soap
Good Times
The Mary Tyler Moore Show
Happy Days
The Honeymooners
M*A*S*H
Laverne and Shirley
The Bob Newhart Show (I think that's what it's called..... not 'Newhart' the earlier one)
I Love Lucy
The Simpsons

Those are the best US comedy shows IMO.

Firstly, I would like to congratulate BSA, for his taste in american comedies, Archie Bunker was such a racist bastard, it was always good to see him get tripped up because of his narrow mindedness.

And "All in the Family" (a yankee version of the british comedy, "...Til death us do part") spawned shows such as "The Jeffersons", "Good Times", and "Maude" that went on to be sucessful as well.

But my all time favourite american comeides are :
Taxi (Andy Kaufman was a genius)
All in the Family
Good Times
The Cosby Show
Married with Children
The Honeymooners
The Simpsons
South Park
Happy Days
M*A*S*H

Mildly surprised no-one has mentioned the old "Di ck Van Dyke Show", which benefited greatly from having Morey Amsterdam & Rose Marie in the regular cast

The best of Jerry Seinfeld

Lethal,

Thanks for that. Sounds like a good buy. I am hoping they decide to release Seinfeld out on DVD like they have with Fawlty Towers, Mr Bean & Blackadder. I already have the 6 videos they released a few years ago, but having Seinfeld on DVD would be awesome!! :):)

Cheers!!

I cant stand all the older US comedies like Happy Days, Mash, Laverne & Shirley, Get Smart...none of them are funny and just end up coming off annoying.

Of the ones listed Seinfeld is the clear winner but Simpsons looks down upon all comedies....even the Brits.

Lethal,

I picked up my copy of Saturday Night Live - The Best Of Jerry Seinfeld today from JB Hi-Fi. Thanks heaps for letting me know about it. :):)

Cheers!!

Surely you can't say the same about Cheers???? :o

Actually I can't stand Get Smart, always found it boring, don't really know why......
