We're going to Vegas 27th - 30th, staying at the Excalibur with 1 double and 1 single room and it only cost about $350.

Avoid weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) nights but weekdays are good prices. From what I've read and heard, weekdays and Weekends are no different anyways. The shows are the same and the casinos rip you off :D no different.

Got to the all you can eat Buffet at the Excalibur (I stayed there in Feb), AWESOME! mmm endless food.... Hotel itself is just OK, I walked over to New York New York and spent most of my time there (love the rollercoaster)

Will do - in between visiting the other 8 restaurants they have their.

That's my dilemma.

The Lakers are the Lakers but the Bucks have Andrew Bogut.

I'm thinking of buying really good seats at one game rather than bad seats for 2 games. Plus I want to add a hockey game in as well.

lakers will cost you HEAPS and get tickets as early as you can. I saw Clippers vs Suns in Feb and seeing Blake Griffen was AWESOME. The fact the maggot umprires fouled him out made the atmosphere even better, the crowd was after blood!

I'm thinking I will go the Clippers Vs Bucks games and just get tickets on the day or a few days before hand and will be well worth it.

You could probably walk up and get tickets at the door for that game. That's if the NBA season goes ahead. I've already booked two NFL games, both in New England. INDY @ NE and KC @ NE, both prime time!

Yep, was thinking the same thing.

We're going in Jan, bit annoyed cannot go to an NFL game as we're only going to Vegas, LA and San Diago and it's play off time.

What website did you book your tickets on?

Now this NFL lockout is over I can start planning my trip.

Definite cities are-
New York
Boston
Philadelphia
Las Vegas

Maybes-
Denver (probably definite for a New England game)
Washington DC
Chicago (really want to go as I missed out last time but will be hard to fit in if I go the southern route)
Miami
New Orleans
Dallas
Houston
San Fransisco
San Diego

Dude, I was just checking the NFL tickets thread and felt the urge to plan a trip. Identified the New England at Denver game as it has two Avs games (against WSH and PHI for that matter) book-ending it.

Check out Chicago. Right up there with New York for mine. Love Denver also.

Perhaps. But I can't think of another city that is as beautiful as Vancouver.

It is a great city. It has it's good and it's bad like any other place but the scenery and nature around the area is spectacular. I can drive just 10 minutes from my place and you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. In fact, people can easily walk off track and get lost in wilderness. Last week I drove the Sea-to-Sky highway up to Whistler and it must be one of the most spectacular drives in the world.

I'm in Toronto for work at the moment but I just don't think it has the same appeal as the west coast.

So I am heading to Philly from NY for Eagles vs Ravens pre season NFL on August 11th... Has anyone had any experience travelling by train from NY to Philly?

I need to get from 30th St station to Lincoln Field and return after the game.. any advice would be appreciated greatly :thumbsu:

I will be in philly tomorrow - i will check it out and let you know.

30th street is the main station - trains go from Penn station 34th st NYC every hour - less in peak time and it just over an hour to get there - maybe 90 mins.

Only 328 days until my 2 month trip.

so long to wait :(
*sigh*

151 days until I hit Vegas.

It's not as long as you think and the time flies. Been counting down from about the same time.

Have you booked your flights yet or do you still have about another month or so before they open?

They wouldn't have been released as of yet

Hey me too!

Bout the same wait.. except I have a four month trip. :p

Also, this is a completely random comment.. but was talking to a workmate of mine today who recently got back from a trip in the US. Anyway, they were in San Fran, and could NOT get on a tour of Alcatraz at all.

Apparently they were all booked up a month in advance.

So there you go, book early if you wanna go to The Rock.

From memory, they do have a few tickets/tours being sold on the day but you have to get their really early. and I mean around 9 am/9:30. We got to the booth around 12:00pm and they were all sold out.

I think the one with a tour guide sell out really fast or months in advance but the ones where you wonder around with just a recording and head set are the ones you can obtain on the day.

Why didnt she just do that then????

I'd love to go to Alcatraz... my bf could do a pretty good impression of Connery and go "Welcome to the Rock"... when we got there. :D. Love that movie.

I don't know, maybe that sort of tour was all sold out. That's what we were going to do but sold out.

We were pissed until we saw Pier 39. :thumbsu:

You have to book in advance, they do open the ticket booth about 8:30am but if you are not lining up at about 7am forget about it.

You pick up the headsets for the audio tour when you get over to the rock, this is a must. You would miss out on so much of the history if you opt not to go for the audio tour (which is self paced).

Book online a month or so beforehand, so much easier... same goes with the Statue of Liberty Crown tour...

Only $30 or something too, so if you do book ahead but don't end up going its not a tragedy. I think it was all sold out when we got there too, although we went on the dusk one so it was late in the day and iirc the most popular.

For me time doesn't fly for me as I get to excited thinking about it (first overseas trip for me)

Nah havn't booked flights yet, can only book in September as I'll be coming home August 12'. I have booked a few tours to do when I'm over there though.

About flights, is their a period of the year when flights drop? Or should I just play it safe by booking early as possible.

btw, 110 cents to the US dollar today, was tempted to buy a few travelers checks!

Did a night tour of Alcatraz 10 years ago. Very surreal. Not sure whether they still do them.

They locked about 6 of us in one of the cells. Couldn't see squat - pitch black and freaked a couple of people in the cell.
