Lance Bass could get 100 kicks at that level, let alone Vin Cahill

Lance Bass is more of a nuggety back pocket who would shut down the opposition's goal sneaks.

Chris Kirkpatrick on the other hand is your hard running midfielder racking up dispossals with flair and flamboyance.

How about JC Chavez? or Joey Fatone? I think they were the most talented of the bunch

While I do not condone Anthony’s actions, it’s about time the umpires got one back. VAFA umpires (especially the goalies) receive quite a bit of unwarranted abuse from some uncultured supporters. Ormond, Werribee and St Bedes are the worst behaved. It was a very long night at VAFA HQ last night, but luckily enough I got home in time for Big Brother up late.

The God of my rock; in him I will trust, he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour, thou savest me from violence. Samual 22:3

Umpires need to believe in God in order to protect themselves as fore told in the holy scriptures.

Joey Fatone has been very good in lifting Old Haileybury back from B grade in 2002 into the A grade force that they are today. While big name players such as O'Farrell and Langford-Jones have stolen the limelight, it has been Fatone drive and hardness out of the middle that has got them to where they are today.

Josh Chavez on the other hand has had a horrid run with the Cardinals, going down twice (2001 & 2003) with knee injuries that required full reconstructions. He returned last year to finish runner up in the club best and fairest. After a flying start to season 2005, Chavez dislocated his shoulder on the weekend against St Bernards and will miss 6-8 weeks.

Thanks for the advice OC.

Unfortunately my father passed away 3 years to the day in a fatal Iditarod accident. Please don't speak ill of my parents. I wouldn't want to reciprocate.

How does inferring that you are a clown disrespect your parents??

CLOWN!!!!!!!!!

good to see matt shannon from st kevins made the vafa under 23 team. Very tough player who is leading A grade in hard ball gets.

I know Joey has been working very hard with myself in the pre-season. He can also be used as a creative half foward flanker when he needs a spell. His father was a hard-as-nails EDFL football, Gustov Fatone, who played for the old Ascot Vale side. Sadly, a mishap involving a mouthguard, two jelly-beans and a Lithuianian runner in the changerooms ended his career prematurely.

Yes quality player. I also heard on the grapevine that a Patrick Aughton of St Kev's was disappointed to miss out. He has been working extremely hard this year. I often see him running round the leafy suburbs of Essendon with fluro yellow sweat bands, shadow boxing. Such determination, we can all take a leaf out of his book!

Dont be so dismissive of Old Carey. I reckon we'll have a few surprises instore for the Reds

It wouldn't be before time that some competition arrived, and I'm sure Old Carey are saying the same thing.

Of course the biggest test will be Glen Eira when their players come back from injury, right? :D

I'll be waving the flags at this weeks game between St Kevins and Trinity @ Righetti Oval. I'll keep an eye on young Matt, as well as fellow under 23 squad members Ryan Chard (St Kevs) and Kristian Butler (Trin) and let you know how they are going.

Nuffy, I'd be interested to know if you know Richard Thwaites. Thwaiter has been plugging away in the VFL reserves, and is now starting to get regular gigs waving the flags in the senior games.
Do you have any ambition to step up a grade in the goal umpire fraternity or are you happy to be putting something back into grassroots football?

You seem to be very in synch with in and outs of the legendary Gustov's career. I hadn't heard much about the erotic prank played by the Lithuianian runner (i think we all know who that is), can you elaborate?

Ahh yes, young Richard or "Whiskers" as he is more affectionately known amongst us goalies is having a great season waving the flags in the VFL. I think he is doing the VFL Under 22 All Star game on Saturday.

As for myself, having turned 27 earlier this year I think I have missed the boat in making a career out of umpiring. AFL would be out of the question I think, but I am now getting a regular VAFA A or B grade gig so maybe I might be approached to join the VFL program next season.

Keep your fingers crossed!

I'd be quite happy with minimal competition for the rest of the season and pick up a flag. However its the close ones you really remember. I reckon it'll be a crackerjack contest between Fitzroy Reds and Carey with, of course, my boys getting the 4 points.

has anyone seen the new Star Wars move. Revenge of the Sith. The following is my ranking of the series.

1- Return of the jedi
2- empire strikes back
3- starship troopers
4- Phantom menace
5- revenge of the sith
6- attack of the clones

we should all meet up one night and have a star wars marathon. anyone keen. we can call it the 'big footy star wars marathon'. we can have it at my place in south warrandyte if you like.

Last night as I was putting the bins out, who should run by Patrick Aughton and Thomas Wilson of OEG, both in the fluros. I was under the impression Thomas Wilson had a crushed chest after trying to bench press 200kg at Windy Hill in a last ditch effort to convince Hawthorn that he is Lance Franklin's twin brother.

I'm a bit sleepy eyed today after seeing Revenge of the Sith last night, and I've got umpire training tonight so we can't have the marathon tonight. But I've got no plans for Saturday night if you want to do it then Mark? I only have Star Wars on Video. Does any one have them on DVD because the quality is better?

I wish i could but it would be a betrayal of the boy band code of conduct. All I can say it was very much like the Jennifer Kyete hide the coke bottle trick, which has been out done by Vin Cahill's latest fundraising efforts down on Gertrude Street. Maybe Mobbenfunky could give you further insight?

That's Ok because I always dress up as Chewbacca at Star Wars parties because my chest and back hair means I don't have to go to much effort in dressing up.
