If the players even needed incentive
JM was pronounced at 6:06am local time one year ago on Monday
Working backwards, what time is 35 hours less than that (not adjusting for time zone difference)?
7:06pm Saturday night?
Game starts at 7:45pm Saturday night, which is 7:15pm Adelaide time
At 7:06pm the players will probably be coming together for a huddle on the field and coin toss before the line up.

I wonder if this year was meant to be. Put a lazy $35 on Port to win by $35?
PAFC 18 17 123
CFC 13 10 88
If that happens, then hey, the good Lord wants us to win the Flag.
Incidentally this will be Port's 35th Premiership since 1900
Port won 36 SANFL flags. In 1942 during the war we were merged with WWT, so really only won 35 as PAFC.
THE IMPACT OF JOHN MCCARTHY’S DEATH
"Here was a club on its knees, facing almost self-destruction and then suffered the ultimate tragedy in the loss of a player in John McCarthy. As I look back, it almost galvanised the club a couple of ways. It reminded them that there are things bigger than footy -- that's life itself -- and also it galvanised the club in to caring for and supporting its people. John McCarthy's number was 35. Towards the start of the season we had a board strategy weekend away at Sorrento, in the conference centre at the Sorrento pub. We deliberately did that because that was John's home club and we wanted to send the message that we'll be linked forever through John. The pub raffle goes on and we all buy tickets. They spin the wheel for first prize and it lands on the No.35. The entire bar went silent as we thought `holy shit, what is this?' The first time we played Collingwood since John's death we won by 35 points. And what has gone down as the greatest Showdown and Port Adelaide and the Crows, was the last Showdown at AAMI Stadium and was won by us, was No.35. If you didn't believe in the footy gods, we do after that. When you look at Angus Monfries' goal, the one that was like Shane Warne's ball of the century, you could almost see John McCarthy's hand in there."
Who here didn't cite Shane Warne and gods mean to be when Monfries kicked that goal?
Now, who wants to tell me how many goals Angas Monfries has kicked this year for us? That's right. 35.
Put $35 on him to kick the first goal too.
35 seconds into the game?
FWIW Chad Wingard has kicked 40.
His 35th goal was_that_goal against Adelaide
That mark, that kick, that goal, which qualified us into the finals and won the 35th showdown
Anyone remember who kicked it to him? Yes, Monfries.
Monfries to have a career high possession count? What his highest # of possessions? Yes, 35, against Adelaide.
Port to win the flag, Angus to never play for port again, Essendon to have 35 players suspended and Chad to play 350 games as well as BOG tomorrow night
Okay, I'm pushing it too far, but I am putting $17.50 each way on a winning margin by 35 points.

Go Port
Obviously losing in the first week would not be a pleasant outcome - but if it does happen, at least you guys will make it further and I can follow Port instead. Also gives me a reason to bring out the Port scarf I wore to the Eagles semi final last year after J-Mac's death.
I'll be behind Port 100% if we lose on Saturday night.
Great stuff Port. Will be cheering your boys for the remainder of the season. The J Mac connection, but also because you guys do play a great brand of footy, exciting to watch. It hurt losing today but the better team won.
