Excellent decision to pull out the #5 for Varcoe, plus:

West gets #12
Stokes gets #27
Owen gets #31
Gamble gets #34

Interesting to note that Josh Hunt moves to #8, from 41 - which Tim Sheringham has taken on, plus Koulouriotis moves from #36 to #14 (the GFC devil's number!)

Interesting that Ling,Enright & Chappy all knocked back the #5.
Does make sense though... they've all made their names in the numbers there in? Why not leave it that way?!

Number 5 is alive!

Varcoe has taken on the magical #5
Stokes # 27
Owen #31
Gamble #34

Well, it's pretty obvious what the one issue is here...Can Owen & Gamble live up to the standards set by Rahilly & Chambers? Only time will tell...

I just read that on the Geelong blog... funny stuff ;)

Dr gives foot the all-clear

Friday, December 23
Geelong Advertiser

GEELONG'S top draft pick Travis Varcoe is set to make a full recovery from his mid-season foot operation after the pin was removed earlier this week.
Varcoe, from South Australia, is believed to have been given a positive report by his doctor and is expected to be back training with his teammates in January.

The 17-year-old, who will wear the number five next year, was sidelined for much of the second half of the year with the injury to his left foot.

``From what we've heard the doctor was happy with what he saw which is great news,'' Cats president Frank Costa said.

The Cats are on a two-week break over Christmas and will resume training in early January.
