Starting VCE nextweek... induction for next year. Just wanted to know what to expect, any tips etc.

Cheers

Word of advice, if you want to do really well then make school a priority for the next two years. That is if you want to go on to uni or what not, take it from me I finished year 12 this year. Other than that, enjoy it while it lasts, because before you know it, it will b over.

piece of ******** dont stress and stay happy... make sure u have enough fun, gotta keep urself sane some how... went the first 3 terms with a job, playing cricket and going out all the time!!!

try and maintain a balance, maintain a positive outlook, order your priorities and be prepared by starting revision in any style that suits your personal taste as you learn your topics and not all crammed at the end

If you care enough to stress now, then you'll care enough to do 10+ hours homework a week. And then you'll be miles ahead of most your competitors.

Also, if you truly care to know a fair bit about some topic, (for marks or for the **** of it,) then read one or two adult-level books on the topic, maybe talk about it with some internet freaks, & chances are these'll learn it to you better than schoolwork can.

Other than that, once you're over 19, no one in the whole world gives a **** what you scored for your VCE, but I would reccomend getting at least an ok score.

Don't believe a word your teachers tell you. VCE is not a life defining period of your life. If you don't do well in VCE you just have to go through TAFE before you get to uni. No big deal.

A bit of advice, set yourself goals. Physically write them down on a piece of paper and work towards them. Do you want a 90 ENTER? Or do you just merely want to finish your VCE?

Oh, and lastly, keep up to date with your work in year 11. Its really hard to catch up on it in year 12 (speaking from experience here :p )

Haha, there's the advice any kid needs

Seriously, dont stress too much. Its important, but won't determine your entire life. Go out and have fun otherwise you'll have a sh1t year.

year 12 is massively overrated! (the workload that is)...but it depends on what kind of an ENTER score you want. For me...i want high 80's - low 90's and i haven't exactly put my life on hold...i went to the footy every weekend so i'm happy and i think i'll get the score i want.

my advice for year 11...
if you're doing a year 12 subject concentrate on that...that's what i did and i got a study score of 43...all my friends were worried about was handing in some english essay for year 11 english....that's great that they got an A+ and i got an E but it didn't count for jack in year 11...i did better in my year 12 subject than all of them....

good luck!

Having done a CAT in 2000 before they changed all subjects to SACs and SATs I think VCE is 10 times easier now than it would have been doing three 2000 plus word assignments for every class.

The SATs prepare you for exams better as well.

I probably could've gotten a better score but I got into uni and got to do what I wanted to (eventually) so I didn't blow it with taking it pretty easy for the year.

Don't stress, outline your priorities, goals and methods to achieve them at the start of the year, and try and stick to your plan. Don't get swept up in the hype, and try and keep a sense of perspective--you should enjoy year 12; it's your valedictory year!

Everyone, including me (and I was a slacker!) wishes that they'd been less stressed in Year 12; no one really cares about the ENTER past December 14 or whenever it is that you get your results.

As far as academic tips go, when you're writing essays in English or whatever, back yourself and be honest. Examiners want to read honest and well-thought out opinions a lot more than they want to read the pieces of ******** that you find in expensive study guides and tuition courses. It's like playing cricket. Practice your technique in the nets but once you get to the middle you have to trust your eye and play yourself in. Good luck!

The number of hours of homework you do isn't necessarily the most important thing, but whenever you do do work, do it properly....concentrate......don't think to yourself 'oh its too hard' and leave it.....if you do it properly it means you will begin to grasp the concepts/rules of the subject you are doing

Also, enter score doesn't matter as long as you get into what you want to do.

PE is really good. It's the only subject where you can actually get out and about instead being bundled up in the classroom. It really is great fun. Had the exam today and was surprised as to how easy it actually was. I'm expecting somewhere around the 80-90% mark.
