That was weak. Just like 2025 started the year weak as piss and look how it ended. How can this team win a final or finals if it can't stand up after that first quarter. As soon as it got hard we went back to slow jlo footy. Midfield did **** all. Amiss, Wagner, Switkowski, Brayshaw, Voss, chapman, Mcvee all terrible.

Look at the mindset of Geelong, we don't have anything near that.

Honestly we are never gonna win a flag, this team has perennial 5th to 10th and lose in the first week of finals/wildcard round written all over it.

We are gonna be the first team to lose a wildcard game, bookmark it.

And don't give me ooh it's hard to win in Geelong, umps were against us, we didn't play round 0. Don't care, 4 points is 4 points, points and percentage are all that matters. At least we didn't get smashed on percentage

Yep it’s quite clear this will be another season of more of the same, almost a carbon copy of last year.
We’ll win some games and play some decent footy like we saw in Q1, but we aren’t a premiership contender, and never will be under this clown.

Pearce no longer plays as a lock down defender. He is a rubbish distributor of the ball and costs goals week in and week out. He is a bottom three player in his position league wide. And he is our captain.

We have at least another full season of playing him and carrying him. We are good enough to beat most teams despite him. It will cost us against the best teams.

Amiss has the tools, just not being used right imo.
There was a time today when we were kicking right of screen, and he took an eternity to kick it.
He got a behind in the end.
Dunstall was saying that Jackson was all alone in the corridor, and he didn't pass it.

Is anyone really surprised? I’m frustrated but definitely not surprised.

We have the exact same coaching set-up as last year, the only thing we changed was our S&C coach, which wasn’t a major problem for us last year apart from the usual injury prone suspects.

The only player out there today who wasn’t on our list last year was McVee (who was crap, but will give him benefit of the doubt as it’s his first game for the club)

This footy club is the embodiment of laurel-resting. We are the least proactive club of all time. All the messaging that has come out of the club is they believe we have the list and coaches to contend. And then when we inevitably fall short every year, they change nothing, then the cycle repeats.

Today's result would have been a lot more palatable if it wasn't for what we did in the 1st Quarter. It's what makes today so disappointing. Usually from that point, you grind out the game and hold on for dear life, but we were handling the pressure and responded until we just didn't.

We ran out of legs. Games from last round? All died off in the late 3rd and 4th.

Opening Round is such a huge advantage for teams that play fresh teams the following week. If you're going to keep it, then schedule the R1 games against over Opening Round teams.

There is no “Dawg” in this guy. No fire in his belly. Certainly not near enough to be an AFL standard key forward anyway.

Have been pretty pissed off at opening round as a concept.

Until tonight being from the east coast I was sympathetic to opening round (thought the teams the east coast clubs played against year to year would have changed but obviously didn't) but having watched the game the differences in fitness between both of the sides was jarring and my mind was changed. We ran out of gas about midway through the third quarter.

Needs to go or be done like NRL vegas round where the opening round games are part of round 1 and the other teams play the next week. No other professional league I can think of has such a flawed approach to scheduling and honestly so unfair to teams like us who get stitched up by facing opening round teams consistently. Especially since our brand of footy 100 per cent looked the goods in the first third of the game

Spot on. Why didn’t we even try to bring Simpson in as an assistant after he was sacked by WC? Scott isn’t too arrogant to bring in someone like Bucks to help out.

Our coaching staff is literally a bunch of no names, and our greatest ever player now works for Sydney.
