I think the China game thing is pretty cool. It'd be pretty great fro the Suns to play over there... think of how much money we'd make. The Lions or Melbourne'll probably get it though.

I would assume it will be a low drawing Victorian team that can play an extra 'away' game in Melbourne to make up for the lost home game. However I'd be a supporter of getting on the China bandwagon.. 1.7billion people in China. If only 0.5% of the population show any interest at all that is huge exposure.
I'm sure some of our 11 game home members wouldn't be a fan, unless of course they got say free entry to the away q clash to make up for the lost home game.

Edit: I would also make ever effort to go attend said game if we did play there

posted this on another thread but also remember we have a large Chinese sponsor that would make a lot of of sense to be the second team

If this happens I'm glad Rocket is our coach and can keep the boys from taking it as a holiday.
reminds me of this story about when crazy vossy took the lions to china on a preseason trip.

Brown says a club trip to China to play an exhibition match against Melbourne saw Voss’ frustration with Fevola reach boiling point.

Several alcohol-affected players stayed away from a Shanghai pre-game function, as a quiet lunch earlier that day between Brown and teammate Simon Black turned into a seven-hour drinking session, with a dozen teammates — including Fevola — joining in the festivities.

Brown says none of the players were keen to go to the AFL function, but he thought his teammates would be excused, as long as Black and himself were there.

After 30 minutes, the duo left the function to rejoin the rest of the players out on the town.

The problem, though, was Voss had called a compulsory training session for 6am the next morning.

“Blacky and I got home at 5.30am — just in time for it. Fev missed the 6am call,” Brown writes.

“We should have told him the trick was not to go to bed.

“A couple of the other boys also slept through the training session.”

When players and officials sat down to eat breakfast in the hotel restaurant after the early-morning training session, Brown says Voss unleashed his anger — especially on Fevola.

“He read out the names on his blacklist,” Brown writes.

“Those of us who had been at the long lunch were on it. The boys who didn’t go to the function were in the gun even more than me and Blacky. The blokes who had missed training were on very thin ice.

“Fev really copped it. Vossy’s frustration with him was overflowing.”

Watching the ANZAC game and I reckon Daniher sums up the many of players in the modern game which is at saturation point in terms of media exposure.

How often is the word champion attached to a player whose CV is limited.

Sure Daniher is a good player but it is ridiculous to label a champion or superstar. He is still learning his craft and is one dimensional at this stage.

Now the commentators have discovered how good Lynchy is they're saying "He is better than any other young talk forward, even better than Daniher or Hogan"

ahhh yeah.

Lynch: 16 disposals, 8 marks, 4.5 goals a game
Daniher: 11 disposals, 6.5 marks, 1.2 goals per game
Hogan 15 disposals, 7 marks, 1.8 goals a game

Pretty happy they're giving him wraps over Jeremy Cameron though..that guy is a deadset gun.

It's great to see Dion back for the game. Actually lol jks he has a shoulder problem that wasn't mentioned in the injury video two hours earlier so he won't be playing. Also Rischatelli has an injury and may be out for a while. Lel

Maybe Dion had a virus and a shoulder problem and Choppers was just giving us the good news first?
Funny how our conditioning staff were in front of the cameras for the injury reports when the list looked healthy but poor old Ashcroft has to front up when we return to crisis mode.

I think 2016 is shaping up as a potentially bigger crisis for the Club than 2015 which was supposed to be our annus horribilis
While we could accept a year of almost bafflingly serious injuries to the top half of our list, the expectation was that in 2016 we would start seeing some return for patience and changing culture and better rehab/training staff
Seems not
GAJ has returned to Earth as a mere mortal so far
The injury list looks depressingly similar
Our backline looks like it's staffed by pop-guns instead of howitzers
And on-field performance that was going to sway Prestia and O'Meara to stay have in fact encouraged them to look away
Depressing?
Yes
This is the vent thread afterall

The injuries are frustrating but Leslie and Schade should be capable of filling May and Thompsons spots, Touk and Wiilis for Prestia and Rishatelli.
I know they are not the same caliber but they are capable and available, we just need Rocket to play them.
