Preview VFL draft tampering

Wouldn't they still need draft collateral to pay for Sanders is if he went at pick 6? Or are the AFL saying he would be an automatic list addition pre draft with no need to go in the draft?

So they would get if McKay left and the get band 1

Picks 2 and 3 plus Sanders??

That's ******* outrageous

I think the reason the AFL is floating this in the media now is so that no one gets shocked with what they actually do. This is outrageous - so when it doesn't happen we're all pleasantly surprised, instead of shocked by what actually happens.

Or maybe they want to send all the Tasmanian players to North, so the club can fold when the Hobart team comes in ...

How were we getting Daicos again?
We had pick 4 at the start of the night and he was the 4th player picked. Because of Darcy and Daicos it went to 6 and we picked Rachele. Obviously you have to ignore gamesmanship etc (in an open draft pool North might've picked Vic Daicos instead of SA JHF).

Here is part of the article that is relevant

But recruiters are fearful North’s compensation could be upgraded to band one (pick three) even if McKay’s new salary doesn’t hit the $800,000 threshold as part of an open-house draft assistance leg-up.

The upgraded compensation has merit for a club which has been down the bottom for six years, but the free kick would still drive others mad.

Rivals are already howling over North’s bid to secure Larke Medalist Ryley Sanders as part of the league’s controversial NGA concessions.

And imagine if North received both; Sanders as a pre-draft selection free-hit and pick three (for McKay) as free agency compensation.

Maybe it has to be or the other.
this is truly sickening stuff and whats been warned about on this forum in recent days. AFL makes up the rules as they go along and achieve whatever outcome they desire. Norf getting 3 top 10 players, along with GCS also doing the same. What a ***** joke if this happens

You mean the Daicos who was never going to a club other than Collingwood, that guy?

The AFL trying to get the top Tassie draftees to North is a bit of a head scratcher. Why set them up to lose their top talent in five or so years?

Just give the campaigners Tyler Welsh as well. Scott played some games for North, so that should be enough for them to change the rules so he goes there.

don't give them ideas

The AFL always float their ideas in the media first to see what sort of public reaction there is before they make a decision.
They value smooth PR over everything.

North moving to Tassie (finally?)
I know they are meant to be doing a stand alone team, but Clarkson was a big push for Tassie wasn't he? Coincidence that he's at North?
