5. J Byrnes - was our best by a mile. Ran his guts out, had effective disposal and tackled hard.
4. N Ablett - Really, it's hard to decide on the rest. I'm no Nathan fanwhore but he showed a bit today (when we managed to get it forward).
3. W Slade - As a confirmed Callan lover I'm always suspicious of Slade but thought he was good today, and that mark and goal was sensational.
2. S Hunt - I hope they delist Spencer next year and keep Hunt as the back up tall.
1. T Sheringham - Did well, IMO.
Honourable mentions:
- Callan. I'll defend him: his usual clanger count seemed to be absent today and his disposal was effective. Along with Byrne was one of the few in the team who had a hunger for the ball.
- Blake. Rucked alright, disposal was up to scratch, and watching him literally carry Stokes out of the melee was one of today's few highlights (for all those who were watching the bloody awful Mercury Rising last night, it was akin to Bruce Willis carrying around the screaming autistic kid).
- Stokes. See above, was extremely aggressive (small dog syndrome anyone?) and while had a quiet second half nonetheless was extremely useful.
- Prismall. Would have got some votes except for the fact that every effective bit of disposal he had was matched by a shocker. Calls for him to be in the best 22 next year are a bit premature, IMO.
Dishonourable mentions:
- Charlie Gardiner. Delist him already, because he honest to God cannot keep his feet
- Kent Kingsley. Does he ever actually contest a mark when it doesn't just fall into his lap?
- Varcoe. Where the hell did he go? I understand what people were saying about him being a young kid (I'm only a week older than him FFS) but still, how can you just disappear like that?
- Koula. Really failed to step up, sadly for us.
