5. J Byrnes - was our best by a mile. Ran his guts out, had effective disposal and tackled hard.
4. N Ablett - Really, it's hard to decide on the rest. I'm no Nathan fanwhore but he showed a bit today (when we managed to get it forward).
3. W Slade - As a confirmed Callan lover I'm always suspicious of Slade but thought he was good today, and that mark and goal was sensational.
2. S Hunt - I hope they delist Spencer next year and keep Hunt as the back up tall.
1. T Sheringham - Did well, IMO.

Honourable mentions:

- Callan. I'll defend him: his usual clanger count seemed to be absent today and his disposal was effective. Along with Byrne was one of the few in the team who had a hunger for the ball.

- Blake. Rucked alright, disposal was up to scratch, and watching him literally carry Stokes out of the melee was one of today's few highlights (for all those who were watching the bloody awful Mercury Rising last night, it was akin to Bruce Willis carrying around the screaming autistic kid).

- Stokes. See above, was extremely aggressive (small dog syndrome anyone?) and while had a quiet second half nonetheless was extremely useful.

- Prismall. Would have got some votes except for the fact that every effective bit of disposal he had was matched by a shocker. Calls for him to be in the best 22 next year are a bit premature, IMO.

Dishonourable mentions:

- Charlie Gardiner. Delist him already, because he honest to God cannot keep his feet

- Kent Kingsley. Does he ever actually contest a mark when it doesn't just fall into his lap?

- Varcoe. Where the hell did he go? I understand what people were saying about him being a young kid (I'm only a week older than him FFS) but still, how can you just disappear like that?

- Koula. Really failed to step up, sadly for us.

Kent again is our most dangeours forward and he gets slagged. I dont think he will miss Geelong too much..

What exactly was dangerous about him? He sat in the goalsquare while the entire midfield bombed it long to him, and on the occassions where he outmuscled his opponent he dropped the mark. I saw him chase twice - one time he caught up to his opponent only to go square into his back, the other was the weakest effort I have ever seen - literally baely moved while his opponent went on a leisurely jog around him. Yes, Kent has rendered valuable service to the club - but this doesn't change the fact that he was woeful today.

He kicked goals... the last time I checked this is what forwards are supposed to do to win games...
That's the best excuse you can come up with? He kicked 3, despite the vast majority of the midfield ball going in deep to where he was sitting (and this in turn ignoring that he's been kicking bags in the VFL all season). By comparison, Nathan and Byrnes got 2 each and did far more around the ground than KK. He simply had a mediocre performance.

Why are people giving Sheringham votes? He just kicked it up into the air everytime and hoped for the best.

5. Byrne
4. Prismall
3. S. Hunt
2. Slade
1. Kingsley

5. Slade
4. Spencer (thought he did really well on Sautner)
3. Byrne
2. Stokes
1. Gamble

On a side note, did anyone else think Sautner is the softest player going around? Dives more than Matthew Lloyd and how was his slap to the back of Davenport's head at quarter time? The guy should be wearing a netball skirt rather than football boots IMO.

I dunno how u can give 4 votes to Nathan. He was ok, but definately wasn't one of the best...
Yeah, on reflection Slade was better.

Four goals in adverse conditions - pass mark in anyone's language.

Very interesting vote there Winty. I still think Spencer was toooo slow as usual but your entitled to your oppinion. lol I'm also suprised you put Ryan Gamble in the best. I didn't think he had a great game compared to his usual self.

When you consider that Sautner kicked 3 goals and 2 of those were from dives and one from a fluky snap, and the ball was up in the Sandy forward line a fair bit, it was a good effort. Though was Spencer playing on him or was it Hunt? Whoever it was gets the 4 votes. :)
