Good signs for the next few years! Some real quality coming through VFL in first and second year players at the club.
Matthew Spencer- AfL body already and has more passion for the footy club than the rest of the list and Bomber said to me if the whole club played with the passion and desire Spence did we wouldnt loose a game.

Jimmy Allen- Watched him closly in 02 and he is a ripper and is strting to regain form after missin a year, size may be a hurdle.

Cameron Thurley- Best kick at the club seen him in 2 VFL games this year, y he isnt playing seniors i dont know???

Luke Buckland- a two year project player wen drafted put if we can hold on to him and develop him he will be a regular HBF by '06. Freaky vertical leap, runs all day and great paor of hands. Also watch out for his brother, missed last two falcons due to school and was in another country, in which he decided to return home to play footy. he has nick reiwoldt type marking ability and is a great tap ruckman, his also a good 6'1" and only 15

Jeff Smtih- Should be allifvted at the end of the year, great hard-at-it kind of player, rarly beaten in defence and can kik a goal. Another top prospect form the west.

Any Comments???????????

Jeff Smith, 'hard at it'?

The Jeff Smith i've seen many times is one of the softer footballers on our list. The bloke doesn't like body contact.

A great athlete, but if he's hard at it, then so was Brent Grgic.

hard-at-it in more a work ethic way, Jeff has changed his attitude alot over the pre-season so just keep an eye on him

I think people talk Allan up a bit to much. He is the kinda guy fans feel for because he is small 170cm and has had a knee reco. It is the classic example of the little guy trying to make it. And well good luck but he isn't that good people.

Also Thurley is a gun.

Still unbelievably timid around opposition players though.

If he developed a presence and some genuine toughness, i'd have no doubt he could make it.

Brent Grgic.
Nothing to do with the topic, just thought I'd add this in... he kicked 9 goals 7 for Bell Park on the weekend.

About our young list, I don't think Jeff Smith should be elevated yet. I've seen him play VFL matches, and he's too inconsistent for my liking. We can't be calling for him to be elevated at the moment based on what he has achieved, I would see how he goes out this season.

Hunts a better kick IMHO

Spencer sounds good as another backline addition in the same mould as Mooney, has he got the attitude to hand out some tough stuff. We need bid guys who can use there size to hurt and enjoy doing it.

How quick is Thurley in comparison to Wojo?

If Buckland has that type of leap why a HBF?

Jeff Smith appears to potential, but as what? Ruck? KPP?I think fromwhat Ive seen hes almost like Mathew Richardson in that im not sure of hes perfect position.Im not sure he has one at AFL

JA , havent seen him but he better be good at that height

Spencer is a big boy, but doesn't have the same type of 'intensity' that Gumby brings to the ground week in week out. We can't have our backline made up of the big guys, we also need blokes like Scarlett who can play on the quick leading forwards. There has to be a mixture methinks.

Thurley is no slow-arse, but is not as quick as Bomber.

Buckland hasn't got the height, nor has he the body shape to play key position. He can play CHB or FB at TAC or VFL level, but certainly not at AFL.

He had a shocker round 1 didnt he?

Grgic has been OK, but nothing really special for Bell Park this season. Seems to think that it will all come to him and he doesn't have to work overly hard.

Thurley is a gun? Indeed, he would have to be one of the best kicks at the club, (personally see him behind Hunt but Thurley can kick goals and we haven't seen Josh in that kind of situation,) to move on I like his game. Thurley looks like a good pick up at 22 but his attitude especially as the ball leaves the forward 50 is nothing short of disgracefull. Head drops and he starts walking. No chasing, no second effort, not even a jog to look like he's making an effort. The kid has been given a huge opportunity and i can't handle seeing this. Just my point of view.

I agree that Spencer's obvious passion and consistant effort is fantastic too! Some good signs but i wouldn't say at this stage the club looks in better shape than last year, in fact as a whole we really look to have gone backwards.....
