Bernie Vince will front up on 5AA around 5:30pm tonight.

Be very interested in what he has to say. Although we'll probably get the standard spin - sorry to the supporters, Ill learn from this etc.

I also think the club had something to do with Goody replacing Danger as the speaker on 5AA last night.

Of course they would have, when something like this has been announced you want your Captain doing the next interview, not one of the kids.

They didn't send out Wellingham to front the media next to Heath Shaw, did they? Or Djerkurra to take questions over Stokes?

Lets not pre-judge

I'm expecting Vince to be pretty honest as there is no point fronting an interview in his position unless your prepared to front the music

I thought hes been pretty forthright so far.

So they weren't drunk, others were out as well - and they made recovery etc. in good shape, according to Bernie anyway.

So they've been cooked for being out too late, but there's no curfew....

Wow, do you get some spanners on talkback radio don't you! :D

I don't care for the suspension talk. I want to know about his form this year and why he's been struggling.

Bernie said there is no curfew just guidelines set by the playing group. So I don't understand how they can be in trouble for breaking guidelines and not a set rule. If there was a set time then yes I can understand the suspension if they broke that, but if there is only a guideline its extremely hazy.

He said several other boys went out that night as well, they went to Andy O's 21st at another place. Maybe Vince and Matty are getting in trouble for dodging the 21st and chasing tail elsewhere :P Andy might have asked daddy Goodwin to tell them off :)

- wouldn't say when he went to bed
- made training
- had a few beers, not intoxicated
- guidelines are there for prep; accepted them as a group; need to accept consequences for not following them
- no curfew
- internally they just 'know' what time they should be back
- no senior players asked them to not go out (or come back)
- came up the next day; told goody they had 'been out late' and it 'went from there' (i wonder if bernie was bragging about some conquest and thats how it came out :P)
- goody was angry; he was angry with himself; disappointed
- they were 'fine' at training; no issues
- by the time they realised they should head back it was 'too late' (so i think they just said **** it and stayed out longer!)
- still close with goody and disappointed he has let him down (feels like a dog)
- didnt hesitate or push back on being called the 'blue chip midfielder in the group' - said he isn't struggling with the noteriety that comes with it
- craigy was disappointed
- says the club is strong because he was dobbed in :)
- fitness level is not as good as this time last year due to some hamstring tendonitis; not been on the bike as much this year which as effected his power running; he and goody going to get back on the bikes
- he's heavy (4kg more than last year)
- get's his last night habits from his dad according to an email
- cornsey let slip '6am' in the morning; not sure if that was a slip or guess; bernie said nothing

Summary for mine:
As per other thread where I suspected no curfew - there doesn't seem to be on.
Many players headed out that night to Andy O's 21st. Bernie and Jaensch went elsewhere.
No one told them not to go or told them to head back.
Sounds like got to a point they realised they should have already headed back and thought stuff it late already and stayed 'out' longer.

Bit of a crock for mine. Appears no black and white rules broken. Need more facts to be able to fully assess how I feel about the level of punishment. Fine would have suited better IMO.

Word going round the the Hills tonight is that Jaensch's(and Vince's) was an extremely minor offence, ie 10 mins late or something, but they broke team rules and they had to suspend them, otherwise others could follow suit. They're being made an example of and its probably a good thing, I think the entire playing group have been far too pig headed and arrogant about this whole pre-season/season, they all need a bit of a kick up the bum.

I find it funny that when other players at other clubs get suspended, regardless of the reason, most people here say that the punishment was warranted and too light.

But, when it happens to our club, most people here blame the club and not the players, and believe the punishment was too harsh!

Go figure.
