Voss shirt front on Richardson

Need some help from you Lions supporters. Trying to track down a shirt front Michael Voss did on Richardson (from Collingwood) quite a few years ago. It was at the GABBA, on the wing, opposite side of the ground to the TV camera. Richardson was running from the right of the screen, when Voss from the left of screen cleaned him up from no where.

Peter Mckenna was commentating, and he called it as follows "OHHHHH RICHARDSON!!! That bump was by Voss!!". Biggest shirt front i can ever remember.

Does anyone else remember this? Ive looked on youtube but not many Voss vids.

That was one of the best shirtfronts in history, Vossy hit Richardson straight up the middle. It is a great reminder as to why Voss is such a legendary footballer, not only was he quick, skillful and dominant at his best, but he was also an intimidator who played with sublime courage. Alan Richardson retired at the end of 1996, so you'd guess it was either '95 or '96.

well it looks like a lions guernsey to me and I swear I remember watching that game on TV down in Melbourne with a collingwood supporting friend and I can assure you, I wouldn't have been watching the bears play collingwood.

I can stand corrected but I reckon I'm right?

The rule makers have virtually made that kind of contact a bookable offence in the last 2 to 3 years.

Vossy would probably get rubbed out for a few weeks for a hit like that in 2007.

reckon it was 96. I remember watching it on the news. Wally Lewis was sitting on a stool near the boundary directly in line with Voss,Richardson. I still remember the wince and the look on Lewis' face as it happened. I reckon it was 1996. I spoke to Richardson about it last summer. He says he spent his Birthday in hospital.

If you watch that with a lazy eye; it looks like voss hits him so hard that he splits richardson into two players. The real Richardson hitting the turf and richardson's shadow that runs off in the opposite direction.

I have it on the old VHS of the 1996 season highlights for the Brisbane Bears. Voss even talks about it on it. Not sure if it is on the 90's the decade that delivered DVD as well.
