I was hoping we'd pick up Collard/Pfeiffer in the PSD before I knew that David Gourdis was going to be left on the side lines!
Talk about upside!

Height 193cm
Weight 88kg

Draft Camp results: FASTEST over 20m (2.83sec wow!)
Repeat 30m sprints No.6 at 24.22sec
HIGHEST vertical jump by far! (81cm wow wow wow!) (next best a distant 74cm)

Another key forward to put pressure on Schultz, Hughes etc or compliment them!

With his speed, which full back can keep up?

Common Tiges, give us some excitement! GET HIM!!!!!

Ps Apologies for the spelling typo in the title of the thread!

Somehow we have to get contact to Miller to put him atleast on his radar if he's not already! SOMEHOW! I live in Albury so I can't get down to Melbourne that easierly to pay Tigerland a visit.

Someone has to go down there and pass a letter through administration to Greg, just saying please consider Gourdis.

Forget the marking, check the afterburners on some of the footage towards the end and count me in.

Then start getting angry. We wont be taking Gourdis despite him coming over.

What makes you say that Tigers of old?
I think if we took the time to ring him directly after the draft to come over to train with us then obviously the club must have some interest in him!

I rate him as an exceptional player who could play a number of KP's.

Obviously has great speed and hands but he has pretty good decision making ability and normally chooses the right option.

He, Collard or Pfeiffer would be a great PSD pick #1 for us.
and the others (if avaliable) as rookie picks.

Clubs didnt like what they heard when interviewed apparently.Hence the reason he didnt get drafted at all.I shouldnt say we wont draft him.maybe not being picked up may change his attitude hence the reason for the invite.

hot damn, I know its like a minute of highlight footage but he moves like a midfielder and marks like a richo! not bad skills either, what was the problem with this guy?

Ummmmm...just one small question..why wasn't this champion in waiting taken before the other 60+ kids today?

There was a big cultural shift at the draft yesterday.

The 'project' players were overlooked. Smouha, Gaertner, Gourids, Mulligan would all have been snapped up in previous years.

In the debate of production v potential - the clubs went production (mostly).

Was talking with a friend about this. My guess is that it comes down to a question of where do you play your project? That elite athlete who can run but can't kick? In the past you'd put him in the backpocket but nowdays often your 6 smartest footballers and best kicks are down back.

Gourdis is too selfless. He prefers to pass and give away goals than get them himself. Eventually a key forward can't be that modest - they need to want to be the man.

He also switched kicking foot a couple of years ago. He can kick it a mile but can get the yips and can spray a few. He is certainly not a natural when it comes to his kicking.

There are some hints of Ray Hall about him. Very hard working, never quits, at his best chasing and tackling and winning the footy back. But not overly footy smart, not the best kick and lacks a bit of self-belief prefering to defer to others.

The atheltic package makes him a great project though. He can take a mark (which Hall struggled with) and he can run. Plays well as a Tarrant-like lead-up forward.

Someone will take him and give him the 2-3 year apprenticeship.

Do you think the Tigers could give him that apprenticeship Weaver?
we dont need him to play next year as we have Richo,Browny,Jay,Jack and Cleve all as lead up forwards.you could even throw polak and Lids in too.

I believe our forward line isn't in dyer needs for a player that can play straight away so he could be worth the risk!

We've turned attitudes around before im sure we can do it again.

Sounds like the clubs may be looking to use the rookie list to develop project players. Sounds like a sensible idea to me. Is this a fair comment?

We'll have to wait and see. They could all overlook him and fill up with Howat/King/Silvester types from the State Leagues.

He doesn't have a badattitude just needs a dose of self belief and stop needing to think that he is the 15th best player on the field and should pass to better players all the time. Take 'em on son - demand the footy. He is the one key forward in the country jumping up and down, waving his arms around screaming "kick it to him, kick it to him"

Richo would love him :p

Very astute comment. I went to the draft night presentation and while he was big and could take a grab, I would not take him. There are others they will consider before him IMHO.

We supporters have to have faith In Francis Jackson- believe me, he is very good at what he is employed to do. We passed on our last pick for very good reason- it was explained on draft night. All players in the mix for the PSD will be at a training session today(?) and they will make a final decision from there.

They will do the right thing- keep the faith!!
