Easy one this week IMHO, three standouts for mine ..

3 - Chris Judd - What more can I say, this man is a freak and it's such a privlidge having him at our club. He didn't rack up the most possies, but he was the most influential and damaging, not only with his disposals, but his chasing/tackling and overall work ethic ..

2- Andrew 'Tex' Walker - I have to admit I've been one of those a bit critical of Tex in the past (often suggested he would be trade bait) but on the basis of today's game, he won't be going anywhere. He was really causing Port problems, esp in the first half, and it appears he's over his shoulder problems

1 - Bryce Gibbs - Has now reached 'elite' status in the AFL, I thought Gibbs was a great 4 quarter player and his disposal effiency was at a very respectable 86 percent ... Also had 9 clearances, and 7 tackles ... In any other game, he probably would have been BOG ...

Pretty hard to give the votes today, because we had such a spread of good players, but i'll give it a crack:

5 Chris Judd
4. Bryce Gibbs
3. Marc Murphy
2. Andrew Walker
1. Matthew Kreuzer

Apologies to Kade Simpson, Simon Wiggins, Jarrad Waite and Nick Stevens

5. Waite ..... rock solid
4. Gibbs ... learning his craft well.
3. Jamison .... our BEST defender!
2. Judd ...... did his job on the ground and as a leader
1. Walker ...... the man who we've missed and would've helped us pinch one of those winnable ones we just missed out on.

5. Bryce Gibbs - Gun, showing why he was no.1
4. Jarrad Waite - great game, 11 marks, 5 tackles and just consistently picked off Port Adelaide kicks forward
3. Chris Judd - The amazing man again confirmed his status as AFL's no. 1 player despite heavy tag
2. Andrew Carrazzo - Absolute ball magnet and his disposal was very good all day
1. Andrew Walker - The answer to Carlton's forward line problems

5. Gibbs - Was clear BOG when heat in game in 1st half
4. Walker - Same as Gibbs, was 2nd best in heat of game
then toss it up between - Judd, Stevens, Scotland, Grigg, Kreuzer and who ever manned up Ebert and Motlop

I thought the majority of our 22 players today were very good so i am going to list the worst / least influential 5 to illustrate how dominate we were.

5. Jordan Russell: Didnt have a shot on goal today and probally didnt find enough of the pill given how much we dominated, did lay some great tackles and applied good pressure.
4: Fisher: The worst set shot at goal I have seen for a while at AFL level, every Carlton supporter cringes when he has a set shot on goal, but did end up with 2 majors including a good snap.
3. Brett Thornton: Was solid without being great, a couple of bad turn overs by foot. Beat Ebert on the day all of Ebert posssies were up around the wing HF where he could not really hurt us.
2. Hampson: Its all about getting games into the Hammer, he was outclassed by Brogan but he gave his all and competed well. Allowed us to Play Cloke/Kruz in the fwd line.
1. Browne: Cant say anything bad about this guy, but given he is in his first year and lightly built he may make way for one of Hadley and Houla in the coming weeks.

5 - Gibbs he is something special
4 - Waite taken his game to a new level
3 - Judd seems to finally be close to 100% (loved his late goal!!)
2 - Grigg easily the best game i have seen him play
1 - Walker love watching him play

Apologies to Murphy..

5. Gibbs - this kid is all class, loved that smother early in the game.
4. Waite - just reads the play so well & is a rock across half back.
3. Murphy - found his way to the right place, with monotonous regularity.
2. Judd - 24 possessions, 7 tackles, 8 clearances, relatively quiet but still awesome to watch.
1. Walker - please Ratts leave him up forward, could easily become a consistent 30-40 goal a season player.

A special mention to the Chief (Wiggins), whose fearless attack on the ball is an inspiration to his teammates. Like a good wine, he is maturing with age.

5. Bryce Gibbs
4. Christopher Judd
3. Shaun Grigg (awesome first half)
2. Jarrad Waite
1. Matthew Kreuzer/Chuck Norris

Apologies to Marc Murphy, Heath Scotland & every other player in the team today bar Russell

5. Bryce Gibbs - Yet another magnificent game from Gibbsy to continue some brilliant form over the last few weeks since the Richmond game. Got a stack of the ball and used it immaculately. His defensive work and work in the packs was also outstanding. He's adding an amazing ability to win the clearances to his game. He'll be an unvelievable player.

4. Chris Judd - Battled well with Cornes for the afternoon and up to 3 quarter time, Juddy, whilst pretty good, hadn't managed to really stamp his authority on the contest. But Juddy showed himself to be the champion that he is and one couldn't help but think he's damn close to his best by the end of the match. Won the hard ball, showed pace, skills immaculate, and displayed passion that not many have seen from him before. You just can't keep a champion down.

3. Jarrad Waite - is really showing signs of becoming an excellent defender. He needs to show it consistently now, and if he does, he can be up there with the best of them running around. His ability to read the play is very good. Disposal was also very good today. Was everywhere in the back half and was the general of countless moves forward.

2. Shaun Grigg - When people talk about our kids, the focus seems to be a lot on Gibbs, Murphy and Kreuzer. Whilst there's very good reason for that, this kid continued to fly under the radar. Was BOG to half time today, and whilst he dropped off in the 2nd half, he still played a great game. Is a ball magnet, and is becoming more confident in his ability to beat his opponent and use the ball well, every week. His development has been great to watch this season and I'm really glad that the coaching staff has shown faith in him to develop in the seniors, because it has been working. We clearly have a pretty good player on our hands here.

1. Andrew Walker - Geez, it's great to have Walks back, isn't it? Has been playing up forward and is proving to be a real livewire around the goals. He has pace, skill and attitude in flair and that comes across in the way he plays the game. Backs himself and whilst sometimes tries to do too much, he's going to be a very very good player. His disposal seems to have improved a hell of a lot lately, especially his kicking for goal. Playing him up forward is a master-stroke and he can become a very damaging payer for us for a long time. And by god, is he gonna win a car one year or what!?!

Special mentions: Kreuzer (very handy up forward and improving by the week), Murphy (continues his excellent season, just needs to keep working on his disposal but it really isn't THAT bad), Scotland (he's such an important player for us - great playmaker and very useful in the middle).

We really had a great team effort today. For 4 quarters too, which was extremely pleasing. Just really need to work on our goal kicking, because the game should have been won by an enormous margin.

Great summary mate, exactly the way I saw it.
