3. Stevens - Worked hard all day. Kicked key goals. Not his best game, but was best for us.

2. Murphy - Worked his way into the game and was dominant when we got going in the third and fourth...........should have pulled the trigger when running into that goal though.:(

1. Fev - Only for kicking 7, but in all honesty, I thought his game was pretty crappy.......selfish.........lazy.........disinterested..........but no-one else could really pinch the 1 vote.

P.S. Armfield did some nice things. Not bad for his 4th game.:thumbsu:

5 - Fev
4 - Stevens
3- Waite
2- Betts
1- Carrazzo/Simpson/Wiggins

Thought they were the standouts...last vote could have gone to either of those 3...the reason I didn't pick just one is because I think there is a long gap between those 3, and our next best.

Fev/Stevens - Done their jobs.

No one rated Carrazzo, fair enough, but he stuffed up, then redeemed himself by helping us get back into it...thats better than simply doing nothing all day.

Voted Waite for the same reason - played a good second half to get us back into it.

I don't know Betts stats, and his mid air was a shocker, but if it were not for his efforts in the middle, I doubt we would have got it together to get any clearances.

That goal by Simpson was a beauty.

True that. Like his disposal.

Just a killer kick. :thumbsu:

3. Stevens
2. Fevola
1. Gibbs

Can't find five today

I'd agree with that,

3. Stevens - Tried hard all day, was pretty outstanding the way he went about it if you ask me, kept us in the game and was a big factor in the rivival in the final quarter he just had to many passengers to carry.
2. Fevola - One of our very few winners today, just like Stevens, was keeping us in the game. Kicked another big score in a big game which is a good sign and also tried hard all day.
1. Gibbs - Can he please be played in an attacking midfield role delivering the ball to Fev and other forwards all the time? The guy is the best disposal in the club no doubt in my mind, his foot disposal is outstanding and will not miss targets. Went missing at times but is just getting used to attacking again so it's expected.

Digging deep a little but Waite, Betts and Kruezer tried hard, Fisher wasn't bad and Carrazzo's second half was pretty good. Other than that, the rest struggled to put in the performances needed.

3. Fev - alothough gave away some stupid frees. Couple of time she had perfect position to body his oponent but went for the high mark.
2. Stevo - Lifted in the middle when needed with Juddy struggling.
1. Gibbs - Tried all day.

Special mention to Essendon's 23rd player, Andrew Carrazzo. Was clearly Essendon's best player in the first half, setting up numerous goals, but then made some clangers when he started hitting Carlton players with his disposal. LOL

To be fair, he did improve in the second half and kicked 2 goals, but first half was a disgrace.

Nice attempt at a joke, but tell me this, where was our midfield when the ball was continously cleared from Essendon, and was continously getting kicked inside Essendon's forward 50.

Its easy to blame the guys in the deffensive 50 that make the final stuff up that results in a goal, but just remember it takes several stuff ups before that for the ball to be down there in the first place.

Also I guess you can add Stevo, Fev & Wiggins I think who cost us early goals, and then later Gibbs & Murphy who cost us goals at crucial times.

I wouldn't normally defend Carrazzo soo much, but his game was not bad after quater time, and the reason we lost it was because our midfield could hardly get touches let alone clearances, yet because they didn't touch the ball, they aren't blammed however it was for that very reason that we lost.

ffs mate, give me a break......'only for kicking 7'.......what the f--- is he supposed to do!

The bloke has been absolutely super this season.......yet some of you still find reasons to bag him out!

We win and you would rant and rave about what a game he played......ffs he out-muscled and out played one of the best full backs we have seen play the modern game........yet still not enough.

Stevens was great, especially as he inherited a workload without Judd for a good part of the game.

Gibbs was also good......his work ethic is impressive, but his work in traffic shows us the quality that will eventually filter out as he feels comfortable at this level.

Waite/Simpson ok....but like many made mistakes, which was the difference between the two teams.

3. Fev
2. Stevens
1. Gibbs

Fev was def one of the positives for us yesterday.

What was he supposed to do?

Give me effort. Instead of constantly allowing Fletcher to run to a contest and he stays back looking for the cheap kick, go and compete.

His first goal came about through a mis-kick, which forced him to lead into the space.......up til that point he was looking as I said......lazy and disinterested.

He didn't do the discilpined things that bring his teamates into the game........hence......again........FFS AGAIN!!! smashing into Fisher and sending him from the fiel in the fourth when we needed both guys up and going.........lucky Fisher wasn't injured.

As Ratts has said, Fev doesn't need to kick 7 to have had a good game. When he is chasing, pressuring, tackling and shepherding is when he is at his best.
The rest comes easily enough.

Scarlett......Glass.......Rutten.........nope.........Fletcher.

Well I disagree. Fletcher hasn't been a dominant full back for years.
Did you wonder why they drafted Mal Michael?

Flecther is at his best when he is running at a contest as the loose man.......hence, my comment about Fev allowing him to do just that time and time again..........allowing Fletcher to spoil his teamates when he should be putting a body on Fletcher and blocking for his teammates..........do you understand?

If Fev kicks 7 and we only kick 10-12 we are ____ed. If he brings his teamates into it then we kick 17, and because his mates are kicking them, the pressure goes off Fev and he still gets his bags.

And I still wouldn't have changed my votes had we won.

If that goal is where Browne lobbed to 15m out straight in front after taking a mark 55m out that was a beautifully executed set play, not a miskick. 3 carlton forwards led hard and created a "hole", and Browne weighted a kick beautifully to about 15m out for Fev to run on to with Fletch marking him from behind........nice play !
