Just got home and boy, what a game. I've never been more wrong about a game ahead of time and happier about it afterwards.
Great team game overall, fantastic pressure, that's what won it in the end. In terms of individual performances though, fantastic games by Bob and Moyd out of defence as usual. Stringer's continued his great form and a big game by Lin Jong. Ayce had a good one, but a ruckman he is not. Grant was disappointing, I don't expect to see him next week. Solid return for Clay as well.
I could go on, but the takeaway is most of everyone had at least a good game if not a great one. This is what wins games at the end of the day, whole-team efforts for the full four quarters. Who knows, if we play like this every week we might just make finals too.
Great game, great day.

Lukas Webb. Wow.

The big names were amazing (murph, Boyd, strings etc), but a couple of quick mentions to some lower profile guys:

1. Wood - so so important for us. Still growing by the week. Was born to play the zone-off defensive structure.

2. Koby - looked dead and buried 2 weeks ago. Was very important tonite.

3. Jong - goal-kicking, over head marking, clearance winning speed machine. Alrighty then.

4. JJ - his improvement is staggering. My fave player at the moment.

One more quick point. The bigger mids are starting to take marks around the ground. Jong, Bont, Stevens etc are becoming influential in the air. All part of the master plan no doubt

Red Cards for all those who bagged the team and Ayce. Make it happen
I never lost faith in Ayce as you can see from my signature* :)

* Signature may have been sarcastic

Almost certainly part of the match committees plan, evidenced by the number of times we had a player go 3rd up in the around the ground ruck contests.

It would be churlish in the extreme to knock Ayces effort in todays game. Having said that, haters gonna...

Exactly. If you know you're going to lose most of the hitouts - just concede and rove to them instead.

Geez we were lucky to get you blokes round 1 before it clicked!

Reminding me a smidge of '07 where you guys had a few games that really showcased how you could score quickly and heavily but weren't quite there yet.

Really happy for Ayce to have a good game as the poor bloke seems to get slated a lot. Stringer is just a freak - enjoy!

I was sitting on the Wing right next to where Ayce took his overhead mark in the last (or third) quarter in the doggies members area. The fans were in raptures. Then he kicked it out on the full haha. I couldn't help but laugh.

In all seriousness Cordy played quite well for mine. We lost a bit of Tapwork from Minson but Cordy seemed to add a bit in linkup play with the smooth handball. Seems he does well in certain aspects of around the ground.

I found the whole game quite surreal, was expecting to get beaten well so to walk over them like we did was a bit of a shock :rainbow::rainbow::rainbow:

I missed any injury to Stringer (who needs to work on set shots, but wooooooow he was good coulda kicked 10), anyone see this? Hopefully nothing serious

We sacrificed a bit of our dominance around the clearances in order to have a more mobile ruck who means that our structre was better. Cordy covered defensive space really well.

When we throw Libba and Wallis back into that midfield we'll be on top in contested ball and clearances, the only area of the ground where we lost.

We also didn't play a crap 2nd KPF tall for the sake of structure. Hope today's performance went some way towards answering how we proceed on this front.

Yes, Stringer's set shots are becoming a real concern. Misses far more than he kicks.

I think concentration is not his strong point. Drops easy marks when he has time to think about it, and the same with his set shots.

Yet get him in a flowing situation where he doesn't have to think about it - he can do it all.

Huge performance today from the Dogs.

I can honestly say I completely underestimated the Bulldogs and completely overestimated the Crows. I was already thinking about the Showdown next week, maybe the players were as well? But even that doesn't account for the scoreline. Bulldogs pressure and running was really impressive.

Kudos.

I literally sit there saying he is going to miss this set shot to the right. Rarely lets me down.

I said the same to a lady next to me ... and he drilled it

I know it is early days, but i can't help looking a little further ahead after a perfeormance like that, this attacking game is very much like our exciting 2008-10 side, maybe even more exciting because the talent is much younger... but this team has a much harder edge in terms of pressure and defensive capability that the previous contender was seriously lacking, not to mention a much more dangerous looking forward line, WITH, low and behold, a genuine KPF, or TWO even...

Im not popping the lid off anything just yet, but you better believe i'm shaking the shit out of that bottle until it's time!

KNEEL BEFORE THE MIGHT OF FOOTSCRAY YOU PISSANTS!

Just a great day at the footy. Plenty to love about the performance, the highlight being the way we bullied them at every contest, knocking over bodies, slamming tackles, big spoils. Gave them nothing. It was ruthless stuff in the clinches.

Thanks for the kind words, know how it feels. If you saw Jong, Talia, Johanssen, Stevens all playing for Footscray last year you would be as surprised as I am.
