Autopsy Vs Crows - Rd 4, 2019

It was one of the ugliest wins I can remember, but what I enjoyed was the endeavour and the will to continue fighting from players. All of them made mistakes tonight, but they stuck to their guns and pressured the Adelaide players into making mistakes themselves.

After halftime, our skills and confidence began to grow and we looked a lot better with and without the ball.

Jed Anderson makes a huge difference in the middle, he is the tough nut that compliments Cunnington and tackles like a NRL player which surely must hurt every opposition player he hits. There was one tackle in the third, that looked like it cut the guy in half. He is brutal.

Guys that generally get slaughtered on this board were pretty good as well, Simpkin and Turner both played solid games and did a few things that made an impact on the game. MacMillan and McDonald also played well despite making errors at times.

Hopefully next week the team we see is the second half team, and not the first half team.

The look of joy on the players faces on the siren makes me smile! As much as I’ve been frustrated with their effort over the first 3 games I loved their effort tonight and I think the criticism has probably brought the players closer together. Silver lining? They seem/look to be a pretty close group. Very happy for them (and us)! Bring on Essendon!

Shaun Atley momentum shifter early in the 3rd when he broke those 2 tackles and hit up BBB. Kanye, what, 7 tackles? I don't think he was more inaccurate in front of goal than any of the rest of them tonight. Took a couple very courageous marks too. Another great match from Pittard. It was a game of underdogs!

And that's all I can muster because it's 5 am here. But I don't have a problem with Pittard's hair either. It's fine.
Also, welcome back Jed!! Geez we missed you.
Also very much enjoyed all of Tarryn's tackles.

We've awoken from our hibernation pods now. (I hope!) Go Roos!!!

Masons work rate and intensity was up and about tonight. Reminded me of the Sydney game last year.

He copped a few hits where he stayed down longer than you would want, but he was an incredibly outside junior and never really coped with contact. That knockout against Essendon didn’t help.

He got in great positions and competed, we got the response we wanted from dropping him IMO

Turner, Zurhaar and Anderson set the tone tonight. Enormous intensity.

They really did.

In the third quarter this trio just thought, **** it, either we are going to have the ball or we are going to physically hurt the opposition players that have it.

A few Adelaide blokes lost the hunger for the contest after 10 minutes of that.

It was return of the NMFC THUG that we used to regularly see for years until the current idiot in charge started ****ing things up..

I personally love ugly messy game with a lots of defensive pressure.
That's the ideal game Brad Scott describes.
However There are a lots of risk to get injury and boys can't keep energy of doing like tonight for whole season.
Need to polish more skills, accuracy and more professional game plan to play cleanly.

Not ideal but given the efforts of the first three weeks the number was always going to be average. Onwards and upwards I say.

I’ve got a good feeling about next week.

Hope so… I'm coming over for the "traditional" Good Friday game [emoji1360]

Great to get a win! Even better, we lifted considerably as the game went on, both in intensity (plenty of good effort from the start, but much more targeted with our tackling and pressure later in the match) and in execution (confident enough to actually play steady football, far fewer doom-laden circular handball chains, and so on). Turned from an almost unwatchably abysmal scrap in the first half to something we could actually build from in the second - and you can basically pinpoint the moment things clicked as well, when Atley (who was great tonight) found some space and kicked to Brown on the lead midway through the third quarter.

Adelaide were very, very ordinary tonight; we won't have the luxury of taking so long to really get going against most other opponents this season. Still, great to see plenty of contributors rather than passengers: the foundations are there for us to have a shot at beating anyone if we can just bring the same ferocity and intent week to week (and keep the skills relatively clean...). Good win, however ugly - now to ensure it's no aberration...

I repeat:

Enough with the fancy bullshit! Let these boys play the North Melbourne way. You can see that's what they want do do, and it's how they play instinctively!

Tell the idiot they put in charge to just stay home when the matches are on.

It reminded me of win we had around 2014 (?) v Dogs early in the season

It kick started our season

Never underestimate confidence in any aspect of life

Where the hell did that effort come from, or should I ask why the hell was that missing the other weeks.
Our midfield and defense absolutely killed it, and the forward pressure was amazing.

Even though the first half was filled with terrible execution, we had numbers in all the right places and pressure all over the ground. Whatever changes have been made, whatever effort was renewed, whatever the case - this is the kind of football I am happy to pay to see.

Thought the ins were sensational, our inside mids were a force, our tackling pressure and RAW TOUGHNESS in some of our attacks on the footy and tackles were just A+. Its so great to have jed back.

Oh, and please more of this kind of attack on the footy mason.

The only downer was LMAC. Jesus he looks terrible, regressing every day. If it wasn't for injury across out small/mid defenders I'd have him back in the VFL in a flash.
