Never, ever, ever... didn't watch the world cup because I couldn't stand the noise - and we need to attract more supporters, not drive them away. And they've been banned from future world cups and should stay banned at AFL games.

Those things should be hunted until extinction. It was the 2nd biggest problem of the world cup, having to put up with that noise for the whole match.

Maybe its just the younger generation that enjoy them, like myself. I watched all the world cup at the Rosemont and people there had them, and the tv's volume were blaring them at full blast and everyone loved it. People were singing the whole game. But i do agree that it may not be appropriate for AFL because the build up for goals is much quicker, and there are many things to cheer for.

I'll have to wait until 2014 Brazil before i can hear that beautiful noise again...

On a different topic note, I tell you what, i'm getting sick of the old ladies behind me telling me to not stand up for goals, 'im sorry ladies i won't try and enjoy myself' GTFO.

Btw I know everyone hates Vuvuzelas but have any of you ever thought tha- BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Now I was bold enough to bring a Vuvuzela to the Crows v Geelong game on Friday night, wasn't sure on its... legality... so I smuggled it in in a big jacket, no problems there. After THAT goal from Walker in the second quarter, out it came in all its glory in Bay 118. All the supporters around me thought it was quite funny. However, at half time it was confiscated :(

You ought to be shot:)

Now I'm only 22(I believe that still qualifies:o) and I can't say I enjoyed them at all, in fact I'd struggle to find anyone I know of similar or younger age who did:o

Ahhh, now that explains it:rolleyes:

OK I'll bight.......What was the biggest?.....Paul?

The soccer.

Bingo.:D

In a way I was kind of hoping I would get into the world cup this year because the atmosphere of the crowds is great and its the 'worlds biggest sport' but its just so boring and slow. But that's another problem we probably don't want to get into...

I'm 18 and I can't stand the things. I tried to watch Aus vs whoever Kewell got red carded against and about 5min in I noticed just how annoying the constant sound is. It reminds me of a mosquito that is flying around my head when I am trying to get to sleep and no matter how much I swing my arms it does not go away!

I went over to the World Cup and these things are nowhere near as annoying in real life at the stadium as they are on tv. In fact, when they were used on the streets, at the live site down the beach etc they added a lot of atmosphere to the place. The negatives far outweigh the positives though. The things I don't like about them:
  • When someone right behind you has one and blows it in your ear.
  • When the whole crowd decides it would be fun to blow them in time with one another.
  • When people think it would be HILARIOUS to blow them in an enclosed space like a shopping centre or casino, so it can reverberate.
  • Most of all, they become a substitute for actually supporting your team - which is the whole point of being there. Maybe if it's a partisan crowd and everyone blows them for the same team this is less so, but I would rather hear the crowd cheer and chant (whether at footy or soccer) than just blow a horn which doesn't represent anyone in particular. I think the World Cup lost a lot of atmosphere because of this, and the same would apply to footy. THere is no way that crowd on Friday night would have been as daunting if we had just been blowing stupid horns.
No place for them in footy. Or snooker for that matter.

I was in a tiny concrete karaoke room in Madrid the night Spain beat Germany to get into the world cup final and some ****ing moron blasted the shit out of one of those damn vuvuzelas and the karaoke microphone picked it up and just about wrecked the speaker. Honestly, who the **** thinks a horn that's designed to be as loud and toneless as possible adds "atmosphere"? May as well fly a bloody 747 over the stadium all day long.
