Swift: 29 possessions, 4 marks, 8 I50s, 1 goal 2.
Bedford: 16 touches, 4 marks.
McGinnity: 15 disposals, 2 marks, 5 I50's.
Wilkes: 13 touches, 1 mark, 1 I50, 6 hitouts.
Davis: 19 possies, 3 marks, 3 I50s, 4 behinds.
Kennedy: 4 possessions, 3 marks, 2 goals... before getting knocked out in the first.
McNamara: 29 possessions, 10 marks, 2 I50s.
Houlihan: 27 touches, 7 marks, 3 I50s, 1 behind.

Was Kennedy knocked out in the first half or first quarter?? im going to go with quarter as it makes his stats seem a hell of allot better. Seemed on his way for a dominate performance before that, doesnt look like he will be in selection this round though. Good to see basically all of our players in the posessions, Swift, McNamara and Houlihan the best on stats.. Houlihan especially would be under consideration for Staker.

Doesn't anyone ever look at these games objectively? These players are AFL listed, they should be expected to tear these games up. If they don't perform in the WAFL what use do they have on our list? By the way, still good to hear bout the boys playing well, particularly looking forward to seeing Swift. Not fussed if he played many games this year but keen as to watch him.

Here's the round up of the weekend's WAFL games, from the Eagles web site.

I like the difference in tone between some of the descriptions. For example, look at the Cockie and Fletcher write ups, the last 2.

This is absolutely fantastic news.

Eagles Website said:
Then there are others like Josh Kennedy, who has been in white-hot form for the last few weeks. He started in that vein against South Fremantle last week, but an errant finger poked in his eye ended his day. He should be fit to play this week and will give the selectors something to contemplate.

Gives a clear indication of potential selection.

Cockie, will play, Kennedy is a definate chance, They seem to be content with Swift in the WAFL. Can't read into Spangher, but he uses the ball so well and his decision making has comes so far recently.

Just looking through the team and the only kids we have in atm are McKenzie, Brown and Schofield all yet to crack 20 games with Hurn and Rosa hovering around the 50 game mark. So we could absolutely afford to add one or two more youngsters to the team in place of Stinga, Staker, Hansen, Butler and Jones.

Most of the kids who are performing have also had a taste of AFL level with Kennedy, Houlihan and McNamara playing 10-20 games.

I originally thought the team on the park was pretty young as it is, but It doesnt seam that way when you look deeper. Good on Worsfold for going with the experienced players first up IMO but as the season progresses it looks more likely that some of them are close to being replaced by those youngsters.

I agree as none of our last two years draft picks are in the squad. Its great we have so little injuries at the moment and there are a lot of guys playing well and pushing for top 22 selection in the wafl. It seems we have quite a lot of depth at the moment and if started to get a few injuries I'm sure we could replace them for many like for like players. Hopefully by the end of the year we will have seen players like cockie, natanui and swift play a few games and guys like masten, ebert, scott selwood, houlighan, davis and McGinnity playing well in the WAFL and forcing there way into the team. Hopefully over the next few years we see these guys replace the likes of hansen, staker, fletcher, stenglein, embley etc and give us a good base for the future. Signs are promising

We haven't been playing a lot of really junior players, however there are some regulars in the team that aren't that old and dont have that much experience.

For instance-
LeCras 41 games
Priddis 49 games
Hurn 41 games
McKinley 23 games
Rosa 53 games
Butler 47 games

Even Hansen, Nicoski and Bones have played well less than 100 games and they seem to have been around for ever! (Selwood has just reached 100.)

Its this group of players that is due to really hit its straps, and I think we have seen some evidence of that already this year.

We have already given games to Masten, Ebert, Schofield, Brown, MacKenzie and Davis, all of these players have less than 20 games to their names, and it is only round five.

When you have a look at the ages and games experience on the list, it is super exciting for the future. There is no need to rush the younger guys in, they will get their chance as the year goes on and it is better for them to play in a competitive team.

All of those guys should hit their straps around the same time as well, I would love to see LeCras, Priddis, Hurn, Rosa, Butler all hit 100 games within the same year! and reach the height of their powers at the same time.

When the hypothesis is about Swift being the most complete midfielder we've ever had, I reckon we should wait until he plays a senior game.

If you can't make wild predictions that your teams untried youngsters will be the best the game has ever seen, what is the point of bigfooty?

I think the same way.. its hard not to think that all of our players are seasoned veterans when the fact is the majority are around or under 50 games. It really puts things into perspective though and is amazing to think that we can come out with that level of intensity and maturity through the first 5 games this season with such a young list. God help the compeitition when they hit 100 games, look at what A.Selwood is achieving now with 100 games under his belt.
