I also dont understand the arguments that a kid is wasted playing a position that he isnt likely to play in the future. Everyone understands the benefits in playing positions that help improve your overall game and give you an understanding of how other players function in other positions.

I see putting Swift on a wing as giving him some much needed AFL game time, making room in the team specificaly to get him on the park week in week out. How is that a negative? unless of course people want to flog the line "Priddis/Embley/Rosa aernt going to be part of our next premiership so why play them". Studpidity.

Nah he should be totally dominating right now and pushing for selection just like other notable players such as Stevenson and Arrowsmith

Lets not get ahead of ourselves.. the facts are he has spent two years in an AFL system playing in Geelongs reserves team and making a good account of himself being an impressive player in an impressive team. Didnt the Geelong resverves win the VFL premiership with Bedford in the team as well??

Also he is playing in a team where a forward crummer and/or a back sweeper (both apparent specialities) are both required roles. We cant clone Wirra and he is (arguably) as good in both positions, ie Bedford crumming is Wirra down back and Bedford down back is Wirra crumming.

Is it too much to expect that Bedford could be pushing for senior selection?? I dont think so and the reason cant be a lack of talent as we had faith in his abilities and I wholey trust our recruitment staff. So what is it? I think its the fact that Geelong were planning to re-draft him and we snatched him off them and so Bedford is a little upset at that.

Agree 100%, there's a couple of players who started their careers in the forward line named Ben Cousins and Gary Ablett Jr... they've gone on to be complete champions because not only can they do the hard work in the midfield, they have developed instincts around the goals.

More than a couple fryzie, there a whole heap of them every year.

Yeah but there's none bigger than those two blokes. Best examples I could think of off the top of my head, one is a brownlow medallist and one who is probably going to win one this year.
