WAFL Tipping Competition 2018

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

We are back again for 2018, the BigFooty WAFL Tipping Competition enters its ninth season this year in what once again looks to be another exciting season ahead of WAFL footy. There's been a heap of news, player recruitment, clearances and training over the past few months but the season proper is just a few days away, starting on the Easter long weekend.

Last year saw waflfootyfacts take out the competition in an impressive performance with myself taking out second place while gaskin put in another strong effort to finish in third position for the second consecutive season. Will we see some of our regular tipsters top the ladder once again or will some new tipsters come on board and take the competition by storm?

I can announce that BigFooty has once again thrown their support behind the BigFooty WAFL Tipping Competition with the winner to receive a year's Platinum membership to the BigFooty Supporters' Club while our runner-up will receive a year's Gold membership. Once again a big thank you to Chief and the team here at BigFooty for their ongoing support of BigFooty WAFL tipping competition. :thumbsu:

The rules for this competition are as follows,

  • Each correct tip will see you receive one point.
  • A bonus point will be awarded to the tipster who correctly guesses or is closest to the margin for the winning team in the margin game for that round. The margin game will be the televised fixture of that weekend. If there is no telecast fixture a game will be selected at random. Should there be two televised games, both games will be margin matches.
  • To receive a bonus point you must have selected the winning team, if no-one selects the winning side then no bonus point will be awarded.
  • Any tipsters who select the same winning margin or tie for the closest winning margin will receive one point each.
  • Tips must be placed before the commencement of the first game of the round.
  • Any tipster who misses a round will receive the lowest score of all tipsters for that round.
  • The tipping competition will run for the home and away rounds only. A separate competition for fun will be run for the finals.

The games for round one will be posted on Tuesday evening. The fixtures for each round will generally be posted on Tuesday Nights in readiness for the round of fixtures each weekend.

If you're interested in tipping for season 2018, post your interest below. Don't be afraid to invite along a few other members of your board or perhaps a few guys who haven't tipped in this competition for a while if they have an interest in the WAFL. Hopefully we will have another great WAFL tipping competition again in season 2018. :thumbsu:

Well we have hit that time of the year again, the pre-season stuff is done and we head towards the opening round of the WAFL season which will be held over the Easter long weekend. Each of the nine clubs is boasting some new recruits in what is shaping up to be another super season in the WAFL for 2018. With that we will hopefully sees some fantastic football over the course of the season in arguably the competition's premier state football league.

Round One Fixtures

Peel Thunder vs East Fremantle at Bendigo Bank Stadium (Friday, 2:15pm)
Subiaco vs East Perth at Leederville Oval (Friday, 4:15pm)
West Perth vs Claremont at HBF Arena (Saturday 1:45pm, margin)
Perth vs Swan Districts at Lathlain Park (Saturday, 2:15pm)
Bye: South Fremantle

Round One of the new season has some cracking games to start season 2018. Peel Thunder host East Fremantle down in Mandurah on Good Friday in the very first game of 2018 with the Sharks keen to show how far they've come over the off-season with a bunch of former AFL players coming home to Shark Park. The Leederville Oval co-tenants in Subiaco and East Perth do battle in a twilight fixture while Perth start their season with a home game at Lathlain Park against Swan Districts on Saturday afternoon. The first telecast game of 2018 promises to be a cracker with West Perth and Claremont doing battle up at Joondalup on Saturday in an early starting game. Who could forget both teams doing battle for a finals spot in the final round last season with West Perth getting through after a controversial free kick? The Tigers will be out for revenge, keen to atone for the Falcons knocking them off in such contentious fashion.

The other grades for the opening round are all over the shop. The Colts game for Peel Thunder vs East Fremantle starts at 11:30am while the Reserves have a twilight match beginning at 5pm. For Subiaco vs East Perth, the Colts will also get a sleep in with an 11am start followed by the Reserves at 1:30pm. In the West Perth vs Claremont fixture, the Colts play on Good Friday, starting at 4pm while the Reserves will get underway early at 10:55am on the Saturday. Lastly for Perth and Swan Districts, the Colts' bouncedown is at 9am with the Reserves starting at 11:30am, both on Saturday.

The weather for the long weekend is looking fantastic. Good Friday is forecast to be mostly sunny with a maximum of 33 degrees while Easter Saturday is sunny and 29 degrees. Perfect weather to take the family down to a catch a game of local football and cheer on your team over the Easter break.

Phew, well that covers pretty much everything. A busy weekend to get things underway (a long weekend no less) but it's great to have the season coming around after getting through the summer and the pre-season. Hopefully we will see four really good games this weekend to get the season underway. Good luck to everyone participating in the competition this year and happy tipping!! :thumbsu:
