2nds WAFL/WAFL Reserves Thread 2013

Tuned in to watch the mighty Royals yesterday but fell asleep during the game (thankfully). The one passage I remember seeing Morton involved in saw him shirk contact and then not chase a guy who was about 2m away to start off with.

Am beginning to think that "Pass" would have been a better option for pick 88.

Will you actually travel to Basso, Peel, Lathlain etc etc and pay $15 to get in the gate? That is what I am saying, that not a lot more will. Some will sure, but not the thousands that were being bandied around.

I last lived in Perth in 2007, I used to go about once a year. But my interest in football has increased substantially since I moved away. If/when I move back ill prob go 5-6 times a year to watch east Perth and claremont, would be only going 2-3 times to watch Claremont if not for the change.

I agree it won't make a huge difference, but personally I'm looking forward to east Perth v peel.

I wondered how long it would take for this answer to be peddled out. Honestly, you don't expect the crowd figures to change that much next year with the 'full' alignment, do you? It won't and you know why it won't? Well, if you've followed the WAFL, you will follow a team already, you are not going to up and change teams because it's not in your makeup (and I'm not talking you personally galileo, I mean people per se). For example, I will NEVER follow anyone but Swans, EVER, don't care if Naitanui goes and plays for East Perth, I could not bring myself to support another team. So the assertion that those that follow the WAFL but simply don't go will suddenly up and support East Perth or Peel is falacious, IMO.

You seem to be missing the point that some posters have come on here, as I'm sure the WAFC sold to the WAFL clubs, and said it will save the WAFL, increase crowds etc etc. Technically there should be 5,000 additional East Perth supporters from the In the Wings members, desperate to see their Eagles players play. We'll see how many actually turn up. You won't lose many WAFL people because they will support their teams, that won't change. I understand why the Eagles and Dockers want this, although I believe it is somewhat of a fool's paradise, but we'll see. As I said, I don't care that much, although being against the alignment, it won't stop me from watching Swans, but neither will it make me support East Perth, that's all I'm saying.

We'll see, but based on just that one game he looked quite out of his depth and that was a WAFL game (which is a little worrying considering he has been in the AFL system for some years now).

You seem to be missing the point that some posters have come on here, as I'm sure the WAFC sold to the WAFL clubs, and said it will save the WAFL, increase crowds etc etc. Technically there should be 5,000 additional East Perth supporters from the In the Wings members, desperate to see their Eagles players play. We'll see how many actually turn up. You won't lose many WAFL people because they will support their teams, that won't change. I understand why the Eagles and Dockers want this, although I believe it is somewhat of a fool's paradise, but we'll see. well seeing that everything would be new to him,teammates ,travel,ground and recovering from injury,its best to give the benefit of the doubt WCE knew they would have to put a lot of work into Morton so he could regain his confidence .I`m not saying I liked his game because I was surprised but what I expected him to deliver just wasn`t there....

Yeah, I'm reading the proposal at the moment, but will respond in the appropriate thread, as EH has rightly pointed out to me.

But Newman, provided a glimpse of what he is capable of on the weekend, as did the Big Mac.

Good on Newman for at least trying...at least with half fitness and the off field troubles he did better than a fit Morton.

I hope with some more games Morton will show his talent and if he puts the hard work in and tries to dominate the WAFL i can see him maybe getting a game late in the year and pushing for another contract for next year.

What are you on about Eastern? The thread title is WAFL/WAFL Reserves thread 2013. I am talking WAFL be that West Perth, anti alignment or whatever I want to in regards to the WAFL.
I don't complain about what you guys are chatting about like this bloke had 6 kicks and another had 10, What the hell happened to freedom of speech?

Either change the thread title to "stats central for AFL listed players in the WAFL" or don't read what you don't want to read. But if the Heading has WAFL in it I will talk WAFL and any part of it for as much as I want.

Whether they care or not will be up to them I guess, unfortunately any success East perth or Peel have from this point on will never be acknowledged now. I'm glad it wasnt my club that sold their soul.

Horrible sounding reports re: Morton. I don't think anyone would mind hearing he struggled to run out the game, but to hear he shirked a contest is the worst possible news IMO. If being delisted from a lowly club wasn't sufficient motivation to make him attack at least his first few contests, one must wonder what it will take.

I heard Colledge had 4 kicks and a goal in the first six minutes of the WAFL Reserves game, but only ended up with 13 touches? Did he play the full game or was he on limited minutes? Just seems like an awfully sharp drop off for someone who started quite strongly.

He had a limited pre-season though as he was coming back from a hip injury. Sounds about right that he started bright then faded in his first game. Hopefully he can build up his tank more as the season progresses.

i am not sure why technically there should be 5000 additional east perth supporters or on what logic. its east perth, not WCE for a start and its WAFL not AFL. many in the wing members will have no.1 choice as membership, then followed by Fox. not wafl.

alot of eagles members are interested in reserves and no doubt a few dozen will "flock" to wafl to watch the game. heck i even might (i follow swans very loosely having grown up in area). only interest i have in wafl is that there are eagles players there and now that they are all in one team to follow, why not trundle down to Basso Oval.

also, it has saved wafl. has given each club 100's of thousands of dollars each and definately helped east perth and peel from going under. if anything, peel was left with no choice with back to wall. wafl clubs wants them out so they can divide the TV monies and monies from WCE and Freo over 8 teams instead of 9. you cant preach selflessness when they are selfish themselves.
