2nds WAFL/WAFL Reserves Thread 2015

I will say that West Perth were the better side over 4 quarters. East Perth did well in the 2nd and 3rd but the Falcons dominated play in the 1st and 4th - got reward for it in the 4th but not the 1st as they should have really been 3 or 4 goals up at 1/4 time rather than 3 points

Lycett is just such a tease. For a bloke his size he is so weak about his head and so strong below his knees. He was dropped because he wasn't competing (and I assume against the big guys) - and if that is the case I just don't see how he gets back in. He need to want to get body contact in marking contests - Fev should teach him how to mark with his knee up and look to hurt blokes - both friend and foe.
Not sure about that last bit. Colledge does not like this

Lycett 20 and 3'd :$

Still not good enough. Like others have said half the time he didn't seem interested and he made a few cockups. Not as imposing as he was last year.

Waterman ran out of puff after half time. Hutchings had a good second term but used the ball poorly by foot for most of the game.

Ginnity is hard at it but he wasn't anything special.

For the billionth time Powell needs to play backward of center.

So sounds like Barrass and Waterman won't be ready to get a game anytime soon. :(
The good news is that Waterman is showing that he can become a quite decent player and Barass has the potential to be a very good AFL player - both just need time to develop

Not playing as a KPD. Barrass could theoretically be played as a zoning off third tall until he matures physically.

Few things :

With that scores were suddenly level. Heads dropped and West Perth ran over the top of a disjointed/leaderless East Perth

East Perth rolled over easier than a two dollar hooker

I never liked East perth so not fussed what you call them - only wanted them to win because for that to happen it would require the eagles players to perform.

Collectively they didn't which is what I found disppointing

Or there are real problems with the teams makeup in light of our injuries having flow on effects. Which is the main issue at the moment.

Waterman had a poor 5 minute patch towards the end of that quarter. Couple of dropped marks and a handball that turned it over midfield. Wasn't happy with himself when he came to the bench. Was blowing pretty hard so is still building his tank
sounds like fatigue, a second pre season will help him - but the challenge is in his court

Ports 1st rounder for Lycett last year is starting to look more appealing by the minute.

Bloke needs to lift, we didn't retain him so he can go through the motions in the WAFL each week.
Calm down, bloke still has 10 years left at this club.

Had 20 disposals, 34 hit outs and 3 goals with plenty of room for improvement.

Our list has it's concerns but lycett isn't one of them

Except that deal was never on the table, reality is Lycett was out of contract and they would have offered a second rounder + Kane Mitchell at best probably.

Agreed - I was a critic yesterday - but truthfully only of his aerial game.

His groundball game and efforts were definitely there, as was good running

Write up on the AFL site sounds a bit more positive,

State league affiliate: East Perth (WAFL)
This weekend: West Perth v East Perth - Saturday May 9, 2.15pm, HBF Arena

Ruckman Scott Lycett responded well to being dropped from the Eagles' round six team with a dominant display in the ruck and up forward.

Despite the 38-point loss, the big man gathered 20 touches, 34 hit-outs and was the game's leading goalkicker with three majors.

On-baller Mark Hutchings showed his class in the midfield in the first three quarters, finishing with 26 disposals (18 kicks, eight handballs).

Father-son recruit Alec Waterman accumulated 28 touches (16 kicks, 12 handballs) and defender Patrick McGinnity had 24 disposals (15 kicks, nine handballs).

West Perth kicked the last 12 goals of the match, overcoming a seven-goal deficit in the third quarter to produce a stunning 80-point turnaround.
