How did ____ go on the weekend?

Why not consult the Alesana Player Video Database.

If we cant make a semi competitive Wafl team this year with the extra list spots then Im not sure even the most ardent supporters of the setup could argue any longer to keep the team
If I remember rightly, all AFL teams had around 46/47 listed players (including rookies) when we created the BEagles, before the AFL cut lists during COVID?

Gotta feel that the Covid list cuts severely undermined the viability of the Beagles'. Our extra rookie spots restore it somewhat.

Imagine having a reasonably successful WAFL team next year on top of an improving AFL team. That's twice the football to enjoy after years of absolute pummeling.

I'm pumped!

I can almost taste the SANTA MARIA's right now.

We likely won't ever get to this point, but with a potential list size of 48, it's now theoretically possible to have an AFL team of 23, a full WAFL team of 22 AFL-listed players and still have a couple of players left over. This would also mean our WAFL captain(s) and any marquee signings (e.g. Ash Johnson) would be left out.

What would happen to those leftover AFL-listed players? Would they be loaned to other WAFL clubs?

The point is probably moot given how rare it is to have so few injuries, but it's an interesting thought anyway.

No idea why people are so certain Robertson would play WAFL. I think he is in Round 1

You all think 2 midfielders is all our WAFL side needs also ? We are atleast 5 short. Hard to look at the WAFL side before we get 9 bodies in but guarantee we will look short in midfield once again.

I think WAFL midfield right now would be

C: ???, Hall, ???
R: Flynn, Gross, ???

Dewar will be at HB and Hutchison at HF (i hope) but can easily go into the midfield. Meanwile forward line will be

CHF: Hutchison, A.Reid, Owies
FF: Newton, JWill, Champion

With Harry Barnett (yuck), Long and then looking at Walley, Williams to add to that forward line mix... yet we saw the need to bring in Ash Johnson?

It makes no sense

Lets be honest

Harry Barnett will slice oranges, Harvey Johnston will be held over as WAFL reserve and AFL team would have 1 emergency held over based on whose in best form

Bingo.

In my head those 9 bodies are Duursma, CDT, Farrow, Williams, Banfield, Evans, Walley, and two of Schoenberg/Macrae/Berry/Phillips. Plus Robertson.

That’d pretty easily fill out those question marks of yours.

Also, I’d be interested to see your AFL forward line and ruck division if none of Owies, Hutchinson, Flynn, Archer and Jilliams are getting a game.

I have similar but think Robertson is in the AFLside. Im fairly convinced that CDT is coming in and playing Round 1. Hope im wrong but planning for the worst. Lets invent best 22s for both sies based off your list. I think only 1 of that Schoenberg, Macrae, Berry, Phillips comes in and Macrae will be it. We will most likely pick up a guy like Blamires

AFL
FB: Hough, H.Edwards, Ginbey
HB: Starcevich, Young, McCarthy
C: Maric, Kelly, Allan
HF: Davis, Waterman, Baker
FF: CDT, Shanahan, Cripps
R: B.Williams. Reid, Hewett
I/C: Duursma, Graham, Robertson, Yeo, Duggan

WAFL
FB: Cole, Bazzo, Grego
HB: Dewar, Brock, Farrow
C: Banfield, Hall, Blamires
HF: Hutchison, A.Reid, Owies
FF: Newton, JWill, Champion
R: Flynn, Macrae, Gross
I/C: Williams, Brockman, Long, Johnson
EMG: Johnston, Walley, Evans, Barnett

Ill put Ash Johnson in for giggles :D . I see something like the above. WAFL midfield looks short 2 bodies IMHO still

Looks fine to me. Strong starting on ball brigade, Hutch, Newton, Brockman etc can take rotations.
Looks one paced, one dimensional and without any tackling pressure. Its going to be smashed once again.

What we need is 2 mids in the mix. 1 winger and 1 tackling mid. Maybe Hall goes back to the wing? I dunno.

Id rather have spent every cent we have on Angus Scott to be a leader. For a tackling mid id like Will Phillips in as a rookie but doesnt feel likely. In that case a guy like Kane Bevan, Parfitt, pluck Milan Murdoch on the logic we will pick him as a mid season draft pick if we have one. A point of difference to the front running types we have in reserves

Dev isn't getting an automatic spot over Hall. If it's one or the other, it depends on how they fare during preseason.
Dev is probably as much chance as starting in the WAFL side as him being a walk up start to the AFL team in round 1.

If we have a midfield of Macrae, Gross & Hall for the majority of the WAFL season but still get smashed then something has gone terribly wrong (even more so than it has already).

Again if we just ignore the fact we're picking up at least 2 mids with the extra rookie spots, how do you know we didn't try and sign some mids onto the WAFL team?
It's not like people are lining up to play for that team as evidenced by the past few years, we're not in a position to be turning down any former AFL listed players who will actually commit to the WAFL team, even if they're forwards.

Pertys signed a kid called Freddy Brayshaw from the sandy dragons. Any relation to Andy and Angus?

Cousin, son of James Brayshaw the commentator, former North president and first-class cricketer. Andrew, Angus and Hamish are the sons of James' brother Mark who played for North and Claremont.

James and Mark's dad Ian Brayshaw was a WA cricketer and newsreader.

Sorry I can't give any more detail.
