Waiteing for the inevitable

We all know the problems associated with Waite.
First and foremost is his inability to get his body right to stand up to the rigours of AFL footy. He simply cannot string games together, and now that he's 30, this is an issue that will only get worse, not better.
And even when he does manage to get out onto the ground, his undisciplined acts just do my head in.

Yet, at his best he is easily in our top 5 players at the club, and having him out on the ground would enormously help guys like Casboult and Rowe.

I've finally come to grips with the fact that if and when Waite can get back into our side, it's a bonus

So we can pull the "ifs this hadnt happened" out for Warnock, but not for Waite? Considerable time was lost for a few suspensions for waite as well. What if Waite hadnt been injured last season? 27 goals in 11 games sets him up to be a 50 goal a season forward if he wasnt injured.

Warnock's injury was caused by Rioli unlike Waite who simply broke down due to a back problem that basically sidelined him during the hardest part of our season. What if's don't matter with Waite since he is always injured when you need him. There is a difference between been injured due to having a unreliable body and getting your shoulder hurt due to a Rioli chicken wing.

As Pearl Jam aptly put it:

Waiteing, watchin' the clock, it's four o'clock, it's got to stop
Tell him, take no more....

They lie and say they're in love with him, can't find a better man...
They dream in color, they dream in blue, can't find a better man...
Can't find a better man
Can't find a better man

Talking, to himself, there's no one else who needs to know...
Memories back when he was bold and strong
And waiteing for the world to come along...

Can't find a better man
Can't find a better man

Do we really blame our supporters for the lack of faith in the club? Giving a 3 year contract to a guy who is at the wrong end of 20 and almost always injured isn't the smartest thing the club has done, but then again we also gave Warnock a 3 year deal too.

We are talking about a guy who put on the navy blue jumper and played the day his father died, he is a player i will always respect and shout down. Some of you guys need to pull your heads in. He has done more for the club than most. He is a true blue and i am sick of everyone taking a pot shot at him. It makes ****ing sick how some of you turn on yr own just coz you don't have the balls he does.

I agree, he's my second fav player behind Kreuzer.

Not turning on our own or bagging the guy, very courageous of him to pull on the jumper the day his father passed and no one ever said they didn't like Jarrad Waite, but we are Carlton supporters and we want what's best for the club. If were going on your theory we might as well get Silvagni, Kernahan, Bradley, Williams, Kouta and even Lance who gave their all for the club and give them 10 year contracts, we will have them sitting on our list and just pay them because they were great servants for the club. We love Waite, and this thread is just gauging people's opinion of where they see him in the future, not to bag him so just relax no one is bagging him, they're just saying maybe we have seen the best he has to offer.

A 3 year contract at the price of a 2 year contract was a great deal for both clubs, lets see how it plays out.

I think Waite has won out big time in this deal as he has not even played enough games to warrant a 3 year contract. Most clubs give players at his age and his body type a 1 year deal. Hopefully he proves us all wrong.

Not if we get less than a season of games out of the man.

I think he is a great player, but has never had the continuity to both solidify himself as a champion, and allow us to have that forward stability (and when he is playing - his badgering the umpire and poor temperament cost us in goals, and suspensions). If he doesnt play more than 50% of games this year, I think we have to let him go - and thats got nothing to do with bagging the guy, and everything to do with allowing the team to go out and hunt for the best prospect for the team. If he's genuinely a clubman, he would acknowledge that, and put the club's needs before his own.

If we get a great finals series out of him he has paid for him self 10 fold.

So what, it's what we have so suck it up.
I understand it's what we have, but I aint sucking anything. If poor decisions at a management level means we've signed a bloke to a 3 year contract, and we get less than a season out of him (with no clauses relating to actually getting on the park), then weve screwed ourselves (even if if cost us 2 seasons financially).
