CARLTON has re-signed No. 1 draft pick Andrew Walker for two years, dousing speculation he might be lured elsewhere.
Walker returned from another shoulder reconstruction this year after fears it might threaten his career.
But the pacy runner's name had been thrown up in discussions with Melbourne over midfielder Brock McLean in the past week.
The Demons instead accepted pick No. 11 in the national draft.
Walker's manager Tom Petroro said yesterday the 23-year-old was thrilled to be offered another deal.
"It's been a difficult couple of years for Andrew and he is really impressed the club showed good faith in him," Petroro said.
"Hopefully the bad luck is behind him now.
"He has two years to develop into the player we expect him to be."
The addition of McLean to Carlton's squad means captain Chris Judd can play an outside role, but Walker is still capable of providing drive from the wing.

Beats me - I wouldn't trade him either.
Ithem both. Though Fev could use a
to the head. Walker could be our
in the rough next season. They're both
.
Sorry, just noticed the new emoticons and had to use them.![]()
Realistically to be fair, He is probably a better player then what I've been rating him (I am a very negative person generally I know that) but I still am yet to believe that he is going to be this gun/star player that some fans have pinned hopes on for several years now.

At least this gives Carlton the upper hand in negotiations when he will be put up for trade after 2010 ...
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Walker to do anything spectacular next season either.
Walker promises the world, but delievers little and is by far the most overrated player at Carlton.
What a thing to say when one of our players get resigned!!
Mate, you are a tool. Try to learn some grace. You don't have to like every player, but football is a team sport.
BTW, congratulations on your team winning the premiership today. You should be proud.
Great news for the club. We all know what Walks adds to our club when he is at his best. I really am crossing my fingers that he can get through the pre-season, and that we can see him take the field come round 1.

Hmm ...![]()
Why dig up two old Walker threads and contribute absolutely nothing?
