Hopefully this puts the speculation to bed, why people honestly thought we would trade someone who would be worth well below his actual value is beyond me.

Yeah I'm rapt he's re-signed for the next two years. Hopefully it's not part of a clever/devious scheme to force clubs that want him to offer more since he's contracted now, but that's probably looking too deep into it

At least this gives Carlton the upper hand in negotiations when he will be put up for trade after 2010 ...
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Walker to do anything spectacular next season either.
Walker promises the world, but delievers little and is by far the most overrated player at Carlton.

Okay but tell me, what if again, Walker doesn't perform to expectations next year ???
Realistically to be fair, He is probably a better player then what I've been rating him (I am a very negative person generally I know that) but I still am yet to believe that he is going to be this gun/star player that some fans have pinned hopes on for several years now.
I'm more inclined to believe in the adage that Carlton drafted a terrific athlete, not neccesarily a great player, in Walker.
I really hope he proves me wrong next year though.

Walker is my favourite player and has been for years - hence why I'm loath to ever consider trading him.
That said, I thought in 2007, prior to the Hawthorn game when he hurt his shoulder, he was in career best form and playing some excellent football. Unfortunately he's been constantly injured since and hasn't had a clear shot at it due to his dodgy shoulders.
I'd love to see what he'd be capable of given an injury free season and while he has some limitations, he'd still clearly be a starting 18 player capable of breaking the lines and carrying the ball.
He's shown he is a ferocious tackler and while we didn't see that much this season due to a lack of confidence in his shoulder, that'll come with time.
Our hardest trainer and fittest player. Versatile and capable of playing defence, midfielder and has shown competency up forward. He can tag and attack with great effect.
Kicking will never be elite but it'll definitely benefit from a full preseason and no injury issues.
He was touted as the white knight as our highest draft pick in history to lead us back up the ladder but clearly he's never going to be that. It's unfair on him to be judged on that basis.
Judging him purely on his merit, his versatility and athleticism is undoubtedly beneficial to the side. I don't see the logic of trading somebody just because he hasn't lived up to the expectations placed upon him. He's a starting 18 player who'll help us in our journey towards number 17 and on that basis I'd be loath to trade him.

Mate, you are a tool. Try to learn some grace. You don't have to like every player, but football is a team sport.

Walker with a full preseason, which he hasnt had for many years now will be a key player for club. can play multiple roles in the team.
just hope he improves on his disposal this summer.

Great news for the club. We all know what Walks adds to our club when he is at his best. I really am crossing my fingers that he can get through the pre-season, and that we can see him take the field come round 1.
