Walker to spend two weeks in a moon boot

I wouldn't trust the club on that at all. We know that Tex has had foot issues before and if this is an extension of those, they wouldn't tell us.
We don't need to go full paranoia regarding club's statements about player injuries. It's just another week to go until we see whether Tex takes off the moon boot. From there, we can roughly project his return to the early rounds, if not round 1.

Matt Crouch mentioned he back running.
Last I heard news was from a coaching staff stating he had taken off the moon boot last week. Hopefully he's progressing well. Would be nice to have all the leaders fit for round 1!

Yeah, was bad last year, didn’t play the first game or the last.

I have had plantar fasciitis. Basically your tendons on the bottom of your foot really hurt.

If any of you have had tendonitis anywhere else (Achilles, knee, tennis elbow) it's the same shit. It hurts (especially when you get up in the morning and your muscles are contracted a bit), sometimes a lot. You get it moving and it warms up and doesn't hurt. But as with any inflammation, if you don't treat it, it gets worse, and continuing to overuse it will make it further worse. Eventually you'd be permanently damaging it.

Not something you want to suffer with through a whole season.

If Tex is back running though, I'm sure that means after he exercises it doesn't flare up and cause big pain the next day. Meaning it's resolved and he's conditioning again.

Walker restricted to the exercise bike during this mornings trial.
Looked like the foots still strapped.
I hope he can get up for rnd 1. Lets hope it this doesnt drag out.
Given round 1 is on the hard docklands surface, I would be aiming for round 2.

I never had a moon boot for it though. :) Just massage, stretching and not using it and it got better eventually.

I just had to do stretches and use a golf ball on it to massage it a bit, but even then it still took a few months to fully go away. Not sure if it's any quicker or slower for a professional athlete to recover from it.

I typed up some useful info on page 7 of this thread. The general gist is that the moon boot just helps to accelerate the recovery of the plantar fasciitis or other foot injuries. Most people with plantar fasciitis would continue to work/walk without the moon boot assist, so there tends to be a more prolonged period of time to recover.

You would think that they'd be getting as much massage as would be beneficial. If that's 6 hours per day, then they'd be getting 6 hours. Average Joe is limited for time and often financial resources. Not sure about anything special with this injury, but one of the limitations of self massage is that it's difficult to apply the same pressure as someone else because of the discomfort.

So is plantar fascia staying or going?

If you rest properly it can heal 100%. 4-5 weeks sounds about right.

The trick is to have complete rest and to ensure it heals before you do any running/twisting/jumping. This is the point of the moonboot. It allows mobility whilst (hopefully) ensuring maximal rest (or minimal pressure) to the foot/sole.
Your injury lasted months most likely because you still kept on walking and weight-bearing, continuing to put more stress on the sole.

There is a slight touch of irony with Walker and a Moon boot..

Reading the official report again, it seems it's a plantar fasciitis only and with good management, he can play footy from round 1 again. The key is if Walker is seen to take his moon boot off in 2 weeks time, would suggest it's a mild form of plantar fasciitis.

I think he should be ok mate. This is a new injury, not the same recurring type. With proper rest/rehab, he should be right to go in the early rounds.

Ok just wait until another few weeks and see who's an idiot.

And here we are.....
Rnd 22 and he plays crap all year because of ................................................. plantar fascia.
Went in for surgery today because of ..............................................plantar fascia.
