WALLWATCH: Trump's Mexican Border Wall (COMING SOON?)

Trump will have to buck the trend to stop that chart going exponential! Unlikely....

Amazing how it got that way. That Obama period is really scary in how fast it sped up. Very steep increases.

It clearly is unsustainable, and Trump, successful or not, is a bit of egomaniac. On the positive, he's querying the cost of some military expenditures, eg F35, Air Force One. At the same time, he's building a wall to be paid by US taxpayers via an import tax (possibly). Still, the debt discussion which was so prominent during Obama's administration is now gone. It has been done in the past, though.

For those who say a 20ft wall is an insurmountable obstacle then you haven't considered human nature.

Normal human is 5-6ft tall with armspan. Makes a drop of 14 ft down, not overly difficult. Human ladders up the wall will have the same effect. Once the first person is over then that one gets the next down safely.

And for those who then say sentry boxes every 500yds. Just means more people to bribe

Necessity is the mother of invention, right?

Initially it will be the producer with the govt hoping they won't pass the cost on.

So, US companies shareholders will suffer in that case. Oh wait, maybe Mexican goods are bought by Chinese MNCs for sale in the US. These Chinese MNCs will not pass on the costs and instead let the Chinese shareholders suffer.

Trump is a Genius! Gets Mexico & Chinese in one go! :p

The CIA can psychologically profile each guard and create the environment that susceptible guard can be exploited by a rich Mexican drug cartel bribes. They will even get their own agents jobs.

How many chinese multi nationals manufacture in mexico?

So the wall materials have to be built in America, right? Otherwise they'll get an extra 20% charge on top from Mexico to cover the 20% tax on their imports, so effectively America will be paying the 20% tax it intends to use to build the wall in the first place, because we all know its going to be partly built from non-American materials.

Materials could come from Australia particularly iron, could restart our mining industry...

(Again not 100% serious)

How will the US cope having to pay fair wages if this wall succeeds?

How about just implement laws, with strong penalties, for breach of IR laws? Cheaper than a wall no?

I think hes planning on running it like the restaurants over there. Bare minimum wage for wall builders, and they can make up the rest of the money from tips.

I think PR is wondering how US will meet labor costs in other industries traditionally dominated by cash in hand Mexicans working for less than US counterparts

It would be unpatriotic for them to NOT take the jobs, unpaid, away from paid Mexicans. How much of a dilemma must that be...Allow foreigners to be paid to work to build a wall to stop foreigners, OR, be paid nothing to build a wall to keep foreigners out so they dont take the paying jobs that you are currently not being paid to do.

Poor guys.

Imagine those who voted for Trump , because he promised them jobs, having to accept a job digging trenches to lay a wall, all at minimum wage.

Ahh Capitalism

What's the bet that the Trump family have invested heavily in concrete producers

So are we expecting this to become the tourist mecca that the Great Wall of China is one day?

And will they grind the casualties into the mortar?

Only if matt damon goes there to fight alien monsters

Interesting development, don't think he likes Trump.

Billionaire industrialist Charles Koch is launching a campaign to sink a border tax under consideration by Republican leaders in Congress, a move that could complicate the lawmakers' efforts to find a way to pay for President Donald Trump's proposed wall on the U.S. border with Mexico.
