Here's how it went.

David Warner

@brettygeevs don't know what kids would b following u but remember what u said to hughy that's right, lucky u were not playing, ****

@brettygeevs got to hate it when ur own squad don't like you bahahahaha

Brett Geeves

Any young children that saw D Warners reaction after hitting Hilf for biggest 6 ever - take that as an example of humility gone wrong.

@davidwarner31 it's a z. I get the feeling my name isn't the only one you have trouble spelling.

David Warner

@brettygeevz u want 2 talk humility u were lucky one player refused to follow up on your racial villification slur u made on the field

Brett Geeves

@davidwarner31 a sloppy kisser. A good yarn and all is sorted. Let this be a lesson to all. Social Media can be dangerous. Enjoy the day.

David Warner

Me and @brettygeevz have kissed and made up both sorry for what we said , let's get on with the cricket go the blues.

I laughed at how the NSW Spokesman said it was only banter. :p

Can someone shed some light on what Warner did after the 6? also I wouldn't mind seeing the hit! Youtube?

Warner has always come across as a bit of a knob, after reading this I think both players have Zac Dawson-esque intelligence.

Its on foxsports.com.au, just go to the video section.

How lazy is journalism getting? Seems like they spend all day on twitter and facebook looking for their story.

Yeah just went on there to check. **** me that was a massive hit. Warner was a little smug afterwards, but can forgive him for admiring that shot. Wow.

Warner is the sort of person that would do that. EG) In Grade Cricket, got a 5 game suspension or something, for abusing a grade cricketer. Poor form.

Warner is and will forever be just an average grade cricketer. In a few years when T20 is dead and buried we will look back and say timing is everything in regards to some careers.

shouldn't be playing at the moment dave warner.

3-game suspension for physically touching (read: Pushed) a fairfield guy who had abused him after warner got out. apparantelly the suspension only means he can't play grade cricket which is bullshit. basically means test and state cricketers can come back to grade cricket and do as they please.

Warner has always come across as a bit of a knob,

can be confirmed.

fwiw though i don't mind that as a bit of sledge. if viv richards had've done it people would've thought it was brilliant. brett geeves taking the moral highground a bit here, but warner's reply was stupid... bordering on slander....

there was talk of some racist sledge or something too?

That was the "slander". Warner basically said that Geeves made a racial slur against another player (as well as having an inappropriate crack at Hughes at some point). Warner saying that in the social media, with nothing backing it up, could be bordering on slander as Black Thunder said, though I'm not sure of the legalities.

In previous times Warners file would be stamped NTBS - will be interested to see what happens.

I don't think he is far off.

Apparently after being selected to play T20 for Australia, he started whinging to the NSW selectors about being in their FC team. But his grade form didn't justify it, so they refused to bow to the pressure. Consequently, Warner threatened to leave NSW and started entertaining offers from other states. No idea exactly what happened, but obviously Warner stayed put. So either New South Wales threw some more money at him, or none of the other states were actually that interested. Either way, he has STILL only played a handful of FC games (and been decidedly unimpressive).

Even his one-day form is pretty limited. A strike rate of almost 100 is pretty good, but an average of under 30 at domestic level isn't very impressive.

Put simply... he's a pretty limited player and he has pissed off a few people. It won't be too long before it's agreed that he is not worth the effort.

allegedly two incidents. A comment was allegedly made about (and to) Hughes regarding his fashion sense, hair and makeup. Another comment was allegedly made about (and to) another NSW batsman based on his appearance.

Both were allegedly made on the field during battle (no excuse really) in an obvious attempt to unsettle the batsman. Both were 'discussed' in a friendly matter (over a beer/vodka cruiser no doubt) afterwards - which was the end of the matter, until Warner got a little fired up.

Assuming it was about his appearance, and not racial, then I don't have a problem with either of those things.

Those pics of Hughes wearing that scarf thing, I'd be sledging the shit out of him about it as well.

Well, at least Geeves can write English to a 6th Grade standard. Warner strikes me as one of those guys who is good enough at sport that their schools and possibly parents don't push them too hard to work on their basic writing and maths skills. Geeves is at least reasonably intelligent, he does a column for the local paper in Hobart among other things, and comes off as understated but quite bright.

I wonder what prompted the initial outbust from Warner.

And yeah, if I was on a Cricket field and Hughes was batting, I'd be refering to him and whoever he was batting with as 'a pair of Sydney boys'.

I watched the nsw innings and there was tons of "banter" between Warner and the Tasmanians, including hilf this was before Warner hit hilf for six. Warners reaction to the six was a final reaction to the sledging going on. It was only when George Bailey stepped in did every thing calm down
