Considering the amount of retirements at the dockers this year, surely you would want to trade one player away Warnock and gain two potential players.

Carlton
2nd round pick + Ellard/3rd round pick
Personally I think Ellard has a heap of potential, if the dockers could score Browne or Armfield that would be a heap better deal for your team.
Melbourne
Pick 17 + 3rd rounder or player

Something along those lines would be fair.

Where does ellard play on the field? adn where will carltons 2nd round pick be?

Its all in Warnocks court isnt it. If he says "Ill go anywhere you want me boss" your gonna make a killing. Richmond Hawks Essendon Carlton Melbourne will all be in and you would get a top 20 pick + a decent fringe player

this is true, we wont know untill just before trade week though, as i doubt he will nominate a club this early in the piece

Meh who cares.... all the best Robbie but anyone else who doesn't want to stick around- there's the door.
Looking to forward to this fresh start next year now. It's actually kind of exciting

i have heard the west coast dont want natanui, apparantly my sources say they want rich with our without kerr

I feel a lot more comfortable with Chris Bond at the helm than those last two muppets

Hope he does well. just at the moment though, the club has failed to secure the services of a very promising ruckman, looks like losing J Carr for nothing, and still hasn't signed Mundy. Probably on the negatives as well is the fact that they sounded pleased that Murphy wants to stay.

EDIT; forgot to mention the signing of Thornton for 2 years.

I just consulted my sources

Apparently we are going after one of two players - Soy or Hickory Smoked.

If I find their profiles I will post them.

Taking Rich over Naitanui would be like taking Drew Banfield over Adam Goodes.

are you saying this based on what the media says. cos if you have watched nait play, his footy brain isnt too flash. and yes it can develop, but it might not necessarily. he cant find the ball himself, he has to hope it comes near him

whereas rich, already dealing with tags at this age...and half the time betting them. the kid is class and has got a footy brain already developed. if you were to take rich, you would be guarenteed to be picking up a future champion of the game

Naitanui is new to the game and really hasn't really had any quality AFL coaching. For a 17yo ruckman he is already streets ahead of where Cox and Sandilands were at the same age. His upside is enormous.

Rich a future champion? Could be but I doubt it. While I acknowledge he is a safer pick and will be a 200+ game player he lacks pace and x-factor and will never be in the top echelon of players in the league. Very similar to Drew Banfield when he was selected #1 in 1993, same club, similar height and pace, similar attributes, left-footer too.

Now, when news broke yesterday I was a little facetious with my post. However, being a tad more serious now, if Freo were to swap pick 3 for pick 1 and also swap for an improvement in 2nd round pick ( I dunno what our 1st 2nd rounder is or what Deez is). Would that be all that bad? I really don't think it is.
It worries me a little, lot, that we will end up with Rich, and I am sorry, he just doesn't do it for me. I fear that Rich has developed about as much as he will, and is made to look a bit better than what he is by the players along side him. (Like Dezzy is always accused of being since leaving BrizVegas.)
Logically we can then pick whoever we want 1st up, and as I have said I really hope it is NOT Rich. I personally would like NicNat as I believe even if he isn't 1st ruck material, he will dvelop into a mercurial forward/ruckman/half forward. A bit like Goodes. Players of Nick's type don't generally slip too far down the draft, but good quality mid's can slip further down.
So does that sound any better now?

im not sure how those two were around the ground when they were kids, but nait aint too flash in that aspect...
and i cant help but disgree with you on rich. although his pace is not great, his other attributes make up for it i feel. to find the ball like he does is rare, holds well in a tackle (many do though) and i can see that left foot of his haunting opposition clubs for years
whilst learning to deal with a tag at this age will only help him fit into the system better

but i guess we will just have to wait and see....

See I just don't see that. Please point me to the games where he had 30+ possessions. They don't exist. He has struggled several times in the WAFL this year and he performed so badly in the u18s that he was publicly chewed out by his coach - so I wouldn't read too much into that final game - I would say thats the exception rather than the norm.

I put a lot of faith into u18 form. Palmer was the best guy in that last year but recruiters out-tricked themselves and over-looked him. Rich tanked in the u18s this year - it would be foolish to ignore that.

I'm sorry but is it just me or have Fremantle supporters gone nuts. You'd think they were trading Pavlich or Sandilands .. asking for top 10 picks, Cale Morton .. my god men.

You'll get a mid 20's pick, which will be a good result seeing as you don't really need Warnock and have alot of other areas that need to be addressed.

yea fair enough...just still not happy with nait around the ground...
and yeah he could pick it up, but maybe not...
and in this day n age, a ruckman who can perform round the ground can be one of the most important players, cox, sandi, hille

We'll give you that mid 20's pick for Newman then. Fair?

we should go after bower from carlton, we need a defender and we cuold get him for a straight swap. we should then pick hartlett and look for a young ruckman later in the draft. There will be no pressure on us to make the 8 next year so if sandi goes down we won't get slammed by everyone for finishing low again. But if sandi excels who knows with a better back half, some good young mids and the might of the big pav at FF!!!
